The Brave Search API is the largest commercially-available developer tool for programmable Web search used to connect apps and AI to the global internet.
The Brave Search API offers programmatic access to a web index of more than 30 billion web pages, enabling developers to seamlessly integrate deep web search capabilities into their AI applications for grounding and real-time knowledge.
The Brave Search API can retrieve real-time search results across the web, including standard link results, news, videos, and more. It's built to scale with businesses of all sizes with fair, usage-based pricing.
Brave Search is built on its own index, giving it autonomy and reducing dependence on third-party scrapers and proxy networks. It's the same index that powers Brave Search, which answers over 16 billion annual queries.

You pay for the Data for AI plan on a usage basis. Pricing is measured per 1,000 requests (CPM, or cost per mille). There are no tiers or instance sizes to choose from. You are billed only for the requests you make. There is no monthly query cap, so usage can scale with your needs. Throughput is capped at 50 queries per second. This single plan covers the search endpoints you call, and your total cost rises directly with request volume.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one request for billing on the Data for AI plan?
One request is a single call to a search endpoint you use, such as Web Search or the LLM Context endpoint. Each API call counts as one request. Billing is measured per 1,000 requests, so 1,000 calls equals one billable unit.
Does the 50 queries per second limit change my per-request cost?
No. The per-1,000-request price stays the same regardless of your query rate. The 50 queries per second cap only limits how fast you can send requests. It does not add a separate charge or change the cost per request.
Am I allowed to store search results, for example to train an AI model?
The Data for AI plan grants storage rights for retrieved results, which supports training or tuning models. Storing results requires a plan that explicitly permits it, and this dimension is built for that use. Standard search plans without storage rights do not grant these permissions.
