Migration Readiness and Requirements Workshop for AWS

Most migrations that stall do so for reasons that were visible before the first server moved: unclear ownership, unfunded security work, a landing zone nobody agreed on, or an application portfolio nobody had fully inventoried. This engagement surfaces those before they cost you a wave.

Readiness. The AWS Migration Readiness Assessment is an AWS-led workshop that examines your organization across the six AWS Cloud Adoption Framework perspectives: business, people, governance, platform, security, and operations. VSO works the assessment checklist with your team beforehand so nothing in the workshop is a surprise, supports the assessment alongside AWS, and then turns the findings into a prioritized list of gaps and a plan to close each one. The same findings are what the Migration Acceleration Program looks at in its Assess phase.

Requirements. A great design addresses the needs and wants of the end user community in a way that makes them feel connected to the solution built for them. VSO’s Design Thinking workshops capture those needs as Design Hills: aspirational, measurable outcomes that define the mission and scope of what must be built. Each Hill breaks into agile user stories that group as features for a release in the product backlog.

Business case. Where a total cost of ownership comparison is needed to secure funding, VSO builds it with AWS Migration Evaluator, using discovery data rather than estimates.

Well-Architected Review. For workloads already running on AWS, VSO conducts a standalone review against all six pillars of the AWS Well-Architected Framework and delivers a prioritized remediation plan.

Where the engagement leads into a migration or a new build, the readiness plan and backlog feed directly into VSO’s AWS Control Tower landing zone and migration and modernization services, so the Platform gaps the assessment finds are the first things the build closes.
