Overview
AMDB are used in a wide variety of applications but mostly in on-board applications such as Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs). These applications are intended primarily to improve the user situational awareness and/or to supplement surface navigation, thereby increasing safety margins and operational efficiency.
Multiple user groups, such as pilots, controllers, aerodrome managers, aerodrome emergency/security personnel etc, can benefit from using AMDBs. a) position and route awareness including moving maps with own ship position, surface guidance and navigation (e.g. A-SMGCS) b) traffic awareness including surveillance and runway incursion detection and alerting c) facilitation of aerodrome-related aeronautical information, including NOTAM d) resource and aerodrome facility management and e) aeronautical chart production
Spatial Datasets: Complete spatial dataset of Runways, Taxiways, Aprons, Buildings and other relevant features as per ICAO Document 9881 which state the Guidelines for Electronic Terrain., Obstacle and Aerodrome Mapping Information. This dataset also contains the specific attributes of the feature such as latitude and longitude of the parking bays, Taxiway name etc. This allows the dataset to be used in conjunction for AOCC applications and for visualization of Digital NOTAMs if necessary.
Exportable in geojson: Geojson is an open standard format designed for representing simple geographical features, along with their non-spatial attributes. It is based on the JSON format. As the AMDB contains point, line and polygon features, the export of these datasets was easier possible with geojson data. They can be loaded on geojson rendering websites that can be accessed using any regular web browser. A sample site that can load such data is provided below:
Digital Data Management: The AMDB module also provides digital data management functions where an admin user can create, modify or delete features of the selected airport. This allows for the ease of maintaining the data on the cloud server without having to save it locally or in hardcopies. All features such as points, lines or polygons can be worked with using these functions.
Integrated Checks: iNetra exports provide an integrated Cyclic Redundancy Checks while exporting data from the platform. A CRC wrapped code is provided in the exported file name suffix which ensures security against data changes.
Highlights
- AI / ML based feature detection algorithms for identification of main aerodrome features.
- High resolution satellite imagery used for accurate detection of on-ground features.
