You pay by the hour based on the AWS EC2 instance size you run CData Arc on. The seven options map to different EC2 instance types, so pricing scales with the compute capacity you choose. Smaller instances like t2.medium and t3.medium suit lighter workloads. The m4 and m5 families (large, xlarge, and 2xlarge) offer progressively more compute for higher-volume data integration. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs, with no upfront commitment. Choose the instance size that matches your throughput needs and change it as your workload changes.

What do the different EC2 instance types mean for how I run CData Arc?
Each dimension maps to an AWS EC2 instance type with set CPU and memory. The t2.medium and t3.medium options carry fewer resources for lighter flows. The m4 and m5 large, xlarge, and 2xlarge options add more compute and memory to process higher data volumes and more concurrent integration flows.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off?
You pay the hourly software rate only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing hourly software charges. Underlying AWS resources like attached storage may still incur separate AWS fees while the instance is stopped, but the CData Arc software meters running hours only.
What drives my cost if I need more throughput for high-volume integration?
Cost is driven by the instance size you choose and the hours it runs. To handle more concurrent flows or larger data volumes, you move to an instance type with more compute, such as an m5 xlarge or 2xlarge. Your hourly rate rises with the larger instance, and you can switch as needs change.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
In your web browser, type https://<this_instance_ip_address> . If the connection fails then you should either try again in a few minutes, or double check the Security Group (EC2 Dashboard > Network & Security > Security Groups) assigned to this image, ensuring that HTTPS is added and that your IP address is allowed.
If you get a security warning in your browser, select the option to proceed. The browser is simply alerting you to the fact that the SSL certificate used by the site is self-signed (not signed by a Certificate Authority), and thus untrusted.
To login, use "admin" for the username, and the instance id for the password, prefixed with "Arc26:".
Once logged in, specify a license in the Settings page, and you will be able to transfer files from/to CData Arc, using the intuitive controls provided.
