Costpoint’s Versatile Modules Unlock More Efficient Processes

What do you like best about the product?
Costpoint is very versatile. Once you understand how the different modules work and how they connect, you start to see new ways to use the system to build more efficient processes and streamline day-to-day work.
What do you dislike about the product?
The data output reports aren’t easy to work with, and we need additional bolt-on solutions just to get Excel downloads that are actually usable for our reporting and analysis. This includes Costpoint Enterprise Reporting or Business Intelligence because the filter prompts are sometimes confusing and cannot be used quickly and efficiently. Drill-down into the transactions would be a great addition.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Costpoint is a leader in project-based reporting. It is easy to manage all types of transactions by projects, report on them and still be able to easily use the same data for US GAAP reporting. Being able to automatically burden project costs and compute revenue is invaluable to CAS compliance while being able to provide transparency to external auditors, including DCAA. We were able to use the Pools functionality to automate intercompany eliminations, taking days off our close cycle while making the underlying data more agile for re-orgs or historical reporting.

What do you dislike about the product?
It can be difficult to find answers to specific questions in the Knowledge base.
There is a forum but I have never been able to find much help there.
There have been a few times when the easy answer was "Ask your Administrator" but I am the Administrator asking.
I think it might be helpful if you had a more advanced Help for Administrators subcategory.

AI Feature Is a Game-Changer

What do you like best about the product?
I believe the most helpful part is the AI feature. It would be very helpful when it comes to entering invoices. The ease if it would be great because all you would need to do is tell AI what you want, and it would do most of the work.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would prefer the option to edit the default cash receipt line to whatever account number I need. It makes it very difficult to enter offset cash receipts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It hasn't solved any issues at this point for me, I believe.

What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate that Deltek Costpoint is an all-in-one financial system that covers financials, timekeeping, billing, and project accounting. The automation of workflows like accounts payable, billing, and time entry significantly streamlines processes, improving accuracy and efficiency in project costing. The dashboard is another feature I like, as it provides employees with an easy place to access current and past timesheets, check the status of expense reports, and manage leave requests. Additionally, having most financial functions in one cloud-based software is a big advantage.
What do you dislike about the product?
One area for improvement is in reporting flexibility. It has strong data capabilities, creating custom or ad hoc reports can be less user-friendly. Building a report often requires a deeper understanding of table structure, report tools and/or multiple steps that aren't always user-friendly for non-tech users, which makes it hard to quickly pull tailored reports without assistance from a more experienced user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deltek Costpoint consolidates financial functions into one cloud platform, automates workflows like AP and time entry, and uses dashboards for easy access to timesheets and leave requests. It enhances accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in financial processes.
