AI Text-to-Speech API turns written text into natural sounding spoken audio through a single REST endpoint. Send text and receive an audio file ready to play, stream, or attach.
A range of voices and languages is available, and output is returned in common audio formats so it drops straight into video, telephony, e-learning, and accessibility workflows. Long passages are handled in one request.
Billing is usage based. You are charged per thousand characters synthesised, with no minimum commitment and no monthly platform fee. Access is authenticated with an API key issued to you when you subscribe.
Highlights
Natural sounding voices across multiple languages, returned as ready to play audio
One REST call handles long passages, with no chunking required on your side
Usage based pricing per thousand characters, with no minimum commitment
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
You pay based on usage, measured in units of one thousand characters synthesised into speech. Each request rounds up to the next thousand characters. There are no tiers or fixed plans. Your cost scales directly with how much text you convert to speech. The API meters usage per request, so you pay only for what you process.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one billable unit when I synthesise speech?
One unit equals one thousand characters of input text converted to speech. Each request rounds up to the next thousand characters. A 500-character request counts as one unit. A 2,100-character request counts as three units. Character count, not audio length, drives your billing.
How is my usage tracked for billing across requests?
You authenticate each call with an API key. An optional subscription identifier meters your usage for billing. Each synthesise request adds its rounded-up character count to your total. A usage endpoint lets you check your recorded consumption tied to your API key.
Am I charged for failed requests or only successful speech synthesis?
Billing is based on characters synthesised into speech per request. The pricing meters processed text, so cost accrues when a request synthesises speech. For details on how failed or rejected requests are handled, contact the vendor.
