Overview
Honesty is a home-station watch. It keeps a ledger of what moved and it tells you plainly what it can and cannot see.
This image carries both halves of the watch.
The desk, on port 8788, is the station page. It arms the watch, pulls GitHub activity for the user and organization you configure, holds seated mail and wire channels, tracks named AI systems, records every movement in a ledger, and keeps the reports you choose to keep. Pages for the ledger, the wire, people, systems, keys, and reports.
Honesty Local, on port 8787, is one Python file with no dependencies outside the standard library. It reads the process list and matches it against a catalog of named AI systems: Claude, Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, Grok, Ollama, LM Studio, Gemini, Windsurf, Aider, Continue, Perplexity, Mistral, and Codeium. A match is recorded as a start when it appears and a stop when it leaves. It serves a JSON API and a plain-text report at /api/report.txt.
What this container can see, stated exactly. Running here, Honesty Local reads the process namespace it lives in. That is the container's own process list, not the process list of the host or of any other container. That is what a namespace is, not a shortcoming in the watcher. If you want the process list of a particular machine, run the same honesty.py directly on that machine from the source repository, where it binds loopback only. The desk half is unaffected and works the same either way.
What Honesty is not. It is not a kernel driver and does not hook every file open on the operating system. It is not a phone tap and does not read SMS, cellular calls, or other people's devices. It is not a browser-tab inspector, because a web session inside Chrome is Chrome, and the watch will not pretend otherwise. It will not report a program as running because someone visited a website.
The ledger is yours. It writes to disk beside the watcher and travels with the volume you mount. Nothing is sent anywhere you did not seat.

Run the image. The ports are published on this machine's loopback address only, so nothing outside this computer can reach them. On Amazon ECS or EKS, expose container ports 8788 and 8787 only to the networks you choose; do not open them to the internet. Inside a container, Honesty Local reads that container's own process list, not the host's.
