Overview
Tidelift has built a unified, cross ecosystem model for providing insights and intelligence about millions of open source packages. We partner directly with the maintainers of thousands of the most relied upon open source packages and pay them to document and validate the secure software development practices they follow. This includes release guidance, vulnerability reporting and disclosure policies, licensing information, and more. The Tidelift Subscription provides customers with insights from this paid maintainer work critical for understanding the risks associated with development decisions. Customers reduce time spent researching and analyzing packages and make better decisions about which packages to rely on for their applications. Taking proactive steps to minimize the likelihood of being impacted by vulnerabilities is a significant improvement from the current status quo of waiting for vulnerabilities to occur and then patching them reactively. When you do not have a continuous view of where end of life, abandoned, or insecure packages exist in your applications, your only defense is to scan for existing vulnerabilities and to fix what you find. Bad packages lead to more vulnerabilities, many of which are difficult to fix. This is slowing your application development team down, and creating additional invisible risk for your security team to manage.
