Each hourly charge maps to one running EC2 instance of the type you select. You pay for every hour that instance runs LifeKeeper. The rate matches the instance family and size, so a large memory or GPU instance meters at a different rate than a small general-purpose one.
LifeKeeper runs on both the active and standby nodes in a cluster, so each running node accrues its own hourly software charge. A node that you fully power off does not accrue software charges. Stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees.
Yes. Charges follow the instance type actually running LifeKeeper. If you launch or resize to a larger instance, the new hourly rate for that instance family and size applies for those hours. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs, with no upfront commitment.
