Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. This software bundles the AWS Command Line Interface on Windows Server 2019 Datacenter. Every dimension charges the same software program run on a different instance size. The options span burstable t2, t3, and t3a families for lighter or variable workloads, plus general-purpose m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5ad, m5d, m5dn, and m5n families. Larger instances add more CPU and memory. Bare-metal (.metal) options give dedicated hardware. Your hourly rate scales with the size and family you select. You are billed only for hours used.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each hour reflects one running EC2 instance of the type you select, with Windows Server 2019 Datacenter and the AWS Command Line Interface preinstalled. The instance type sets the CPU and memory you get. You pay for each hour the instance runs, counted per instance.
Software charges accrue only while the instance runs. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. Underlying AWS storage or other resource fees may still apply while stopped. Metering follows running time only.
You pay the hourly rate tied to whichever instance type runs. Moving to a larger size or a different family changes your hourly rate. The change takes effect when you launch that instance type. The software itself stays the same across every option.
