Self-hosted CRM 10.0.11 (AGPL-3.0) with MariaDB 11.8 on Ubuntu 24.04: accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities, cases, calendar, HTTPS, a generated administrator and no sign-up. Paid extensions are not included.

    Overview

This AMI runs a self-hosted customer relationship management (CRM) application with MariaDB 11.8 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. It manages accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities, cases, tasks, meetings, calls, a calendar, documents and a knowledge base, with email integration, role-based access control, dashboards and a REST API. The application (version 10.0.11) and MariaDB 11.8.9 are pinned and pre-installed in the AMI, and a second container runs the scheduled jobs.

    What Perimattic adds

Administrator created for you: during first-login setup a random 24-character password is generated on your server and the one administrator account, using the email you enter, is created before the site is published. There is no sign-up and no portal, and the web installer is not reachable. There are no default or shared credentials in the image. Apache provides HTTPS with a free Let's Encrypt certificate for your domain.

    Limits you should know

No mail server is configured: set outbound email in the application's administration (needed for password recovery, notifications and mass email). The optional real-time WebSocket service is not included. Paid extensions sold separately by the vendor are not installed. In our tests the application used about 55 to 85 MB and MariaDB about 125 to 165 MB, so a t3.small (2 GB) is the recommended starting size.

    Licence and attribution

The application is released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 and MariaDB under the GPL v2. Built on the open-source EspoCRM (AGPL-3.0). Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by EspoCRM, Inc.; EspoCRM is a trademark of its owner.

Getting Started Launch the AMI and open ports 22, 80 and 443 in the security group SSH in and answer the setup prompts (domain and admin email) Open https://your-domain  and sign in as admin with the password printed at the end of setup

A domain name with an A record pointing at the instance is required, because the site is served over HTTPS.

This AMI is built and supported by Perimattic.

64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

    Version release notes

    Initial release.

    • Application: CRM Platform 10.0.11 (container image pinned, baked into the AMI).
    • Base: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, fully patched at build time, built by an automated EC2 Image Builder pipeline.
    • TLS: Apache reverse proxy with a Let's Encrypt certificate requested by certbot at first login.
    • Credentials are generated on the instance at first login; none are present in the image.
    • The application is installed once with a random administrator password generated at first login and given only to that one install container (the running containers hold a different random value), before the site is published; there is no sign-up or portal. Setup verifies that the password works, that a wrong password and the usual default logins are refused, that exactly one account exists and that anonymous API requests are refused.
    • Application: CRM release 10.0.11 from the project's official image (AGPL-3.0, unmodified) with MariaDB 11.8.9 (both pinned); a second container runs the scheduled jobs. Version-check jobs are off.
    • No SMTP is configured; the optional WebSocket service is not included.
    • Database: reachable only inside the Docker network.

    Additional details

    Usage instructions

    1. Launch an Instance

From AWS Marketplace, click Continue to Subscribe and then Continue to Configuration to launch the AMI.

    2. Choose the Recommended Instance Type

t3.small (2 GB of memory) is the recommended starting size: in our tests the application used about 55 to 85 MB, the cron daemon about 20 to 40 MB and MariaDB about 125 to 165 MB. Larger teams and heavy email integration need more.

    3. Configure Security Group

Allow inbound traffic on the following ports:

      • 22 (SSH) - terminal access for setup
      • 80 (HTTP) - needed to validate your domain for the TLS certificate
      • 443 (HTTPS) - access to CRM Platform
    4. Point a domain at the instance

Create a DNS A record (for example crm.example.com) pointing to the instance's public IP before you log in.

    5. Connect to the Instance

      ssh -i <your-key.pem> ubuntu@<public-ip>

    6. First-Login Setup

The first SSH login runs a guided setup:

      • Prompts for your domain and admin email and checks the DNS A record
      • Generates a random 24-character admin password and the database passwords on your server
      • Starts MariaDB, installs the application once with that password, then starts the application and its scheduled-jobs (cron) container
      • Checks that the password works, that a wrong password and the usual default logins are refused, that exactly one account exists, that there is no portal and that anonymous API requests are refused
      • Configures Apache as an HTTPS reverse proxy and requests a Let's Encrypt certificate
      • Prints the URL and the admin credentials; they are also stored in /opt/app/access.txt (root only)

If a step fails, fix the problem shown and log in again: the setup resumes where it stopped.

    7. Access CRM Platform

Open https://<your-domain> and sign in as admin with the generated password (view it again with: sudo cat /opt/app/access.txt). Add users under Administration > Users; there is no sign-up. Set outbound email under Administration > Outbound Emails.

    8. Credentials

Generated on your server, never shared between customers. View them again with:

      sudo cat /opt/app/access.txt

    9. Manage the Services

cd /opt/app sudo docker compose ps sudo docker compose restart

Data is in MariaDB in /opt/app/mariadb and in /opt/app/data (uploads, logs, keys and settings, including data/config-internal.php with the database password and the instance's keys), /opt/app/custom and /opt/app/client-custom: back up all of /opt/app or snapshot the volume before upgrades. No mail server is configured: set outbound email in the application's administration. The optional WebSocket service is not included.
