The options are general-purpose M-family and burstable T-family instances. T-family sizes (such as t2, t3, and t3a) scale from nano through 2xlarge for lighter or variable workloads. M-family sizes (such as m4, m5, m5a, m5d, m5n, m6a, m6i, and related variants) scale up to 48xlarge for steady, heavier workloads. Larger instances with more compute and memory cost more per hour. You add the underlying AWS infrastructure charges separately.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You get a license to run the Linux server operation and maintenance panel on that EC2 instance for each hour it runs. The panel comes self-contained, bundling the libraries, databases, and runtimes needed. The hourly rate reflects the instance size; larger M-family and T-family sizes carry more compute and memory.
The software fee meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly panel charge. You may still pay separate AWS storage fees for the stopped instance's attached volumes. Charges resume once you start the instance again.
Pricing follows the EC2 instance size you run. Moving from a smaller T-family or M-family size to a larger one raises the hourly rate, because larger sizes carry more compute and memory. The change happens when you launch on the new size; AWS infrastructure charges also adjust separately.
