Overview
Highly secure, Docker-based PDF processing REST API for self-hosted deployment on Amazon ECS, EKS, and Fargate.
The complete pdfRest PDF processing engine, containerized to run entirely inside your AWS infrastructure. Deploy the Docker image as an ECS task, an EKS pod, or a Fargate service, and every operation runs inside your own VPC.
pdfRest is created by Datalogics , a document technology company with decades of experience in PDF processing, powered by trusted Adobe® PDF Library™ technology. Rapidly integrate PDF processing solutions into your applications and workflows.
100% Data Residency, Security, and Compliance
We know data privacy is critical. The pdfRest container is designed to ensure your documents never leave the AWS infrastructure you control. The container processes all files locally, making an external call only to validate your License Key. None of your private data, files, or proprietary information is ever transmitted outside your controlled environment.
Because the image is pulled directly from AWS Marketplace, it runs as a standard container in the environment you already operate, fitting cleanly into your existing AWS CI/CD, orchestration, and scaling platforms. You keep full oversight of your backend, storage, and security.
Datalogics maintains SOC 2 Type 2 audited security controls, and the toolkit supports HIPAA-aligned, GDPR-compliant, data-sovereign deployments, a fit for finance, healthcare, legal, and government workloads.
Bring Your Own License (BYOL) and Trial
14-Day Trial: Evaluate the pdfRest Container for 14 days. Sign up for a pdfRest account and request a Container License Key, generated and shared with you immediately. During the trial the API is fully functional in trial mode, with output files restricted by watermarks or redactions. If you need more time to evaluate, reach out to us.
Self-Serve Production Upgrades: Ready to launch without restrictions? Upgrade your License Key to a production version at any time. Choose the container license plan that matches your processing volume, with a clear upgrade path as your needs grow.
Self-hosted PDF API: 40+ Tools
A comprehensive suite of PDF processing tools running server-side entirely within your own AWS environment, ready to handle whatever volume your backend supports. Explore the full directory of API Tools . A highlight of what is included:

Container image
Containers are lightweight, portable execution environments that wrap server application software in a filesystem that includes everything it needs to run. Container applications run on supported container runtimes and orchestration services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). Both eliminate the need for you to install and operate your own container orchestration software by managing and scheduling containers on a scalable cluster of virtual machines.
