Overview
pdfRest Container API Toolkit brings the complete pdfRest PDF processing engine to your own AWS environment. pdfRest is created by Datalogics , a document-technology company with decades of experience in PDF and document processing. Deploy it as an ECS task or EKS pod and run every operation inside your own VPC, so your documents and data never leave infrastructure you control. It is built for teams with data-residency, privacy, and compliance requirements that rule out sending files to a third-party cloud service.
Self-hosted PDF API: 40+ endpoints
The toolkit exposes 40+ REST API endpoints covering the full document workflow. The same pdfRest endpoints you use in the cloud, running server-side in your own environment, at the scale your infrastructure supports.
Convert and transform
Convert to and from Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML, and image formats; merge, split, and compress; and flatten forms, annotations, and transparencies.
Extract, redact, and secure
Extract text, images, and form data; redact text by literal string, preset, or regex; encrypt, add or remove restrictions; and add watermarks, signatures, and attachments.
Validate and archive
Validate metadata, accessibility tags, and security settings, and convert to archival PDF/A.
Bring your own license (BYOL)
This is a Bring Your Own License (BYOL) offering: you supply a pdfRest license to activate the deployed container, and there is no AWS Marketplace charge for the software itself. Choose the container license that matches your processing volume, with a clear upgrade path as your needs grow. Because it runs as a container you operate, the toolkit fits cleanly into your existing CI/CD, orchestration, and autoscaling on Amazon ECS and EKS.
SOC 2 audited, HIPAA-aligned, and data-sovereign
pdfRest is engineered for regulated and enterprise workloads. Datalogics maintains SOC 2 Type 2 audited security controls, and the toolkit supports HIPAA-aligned, data-sovereign deployments. Full endpoint documentation , request and response examples, and a browser-based API Lab help your team rapidly go from pull to production.

Container image
Containers are lightweight, portable execution environments that wrap server application software in a filesystem that includes everything it needs to run. Container applications run on supported container runtimes and orchestration services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). Both eliminate the need for you to install and operate your own container orchestration software by managing and scheduling containers on a scalable cluster of virtual machines.
