QuantDinger - Open-Source AI Quantitative Research Platform
QuantDinger is a self-hosted platform for AI-assisted market research, Python strategy development, reproducible backtesting, paper trading, and operational monitoring. It is designed for independent researchers, Python developers, quantitative teams, educators, and fintech builders who want to keep data, credentials, and infrastructure under their own control.
Why QuantDinger on AWS
Deploy the complete application stack in one AWS account through CloudFormation Quick Create. The default template provisions one EC2 instance and runs the backend services, web frontend, mobile web client, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kafka as a coordinated Docker Compose deployment. Production containers use non-root execution, read-only root filesystems, dropped capabilities, encrypted storage, and restricted network access.
Core capabilities
AI-assisted research Structured market analysis with memory, ensemble voting, confidence calibration, and support for multiple model providers.
Python Strategy API V2 Develop one auditable Python strategy contract for deterministic backtests, simulation, and optional broker-connected execution.
Reproducible backtesting Preserves code and configuration snapshots with realistic commissions, slippage, sizing, leverage, and risk controls.
Paper trading and controlled automation Evaluate strategies in simulation before enabling any external account connection. Scoped tokens, audit logs, rate limits, and an operator-controlled kill switch support safer automation.
Agent and MCP integration Includes a tenant-scoped MCP gateway for approved research, data, backtest, and operational tools without exposing provider credentials to clients.
Deployment and control
QuantDinger is self-hosted. Market-data, AI, notification, and optional broker integrations are configured by the operator after deployment. AWS infrastructure remains under the buyer's control, and external execution features are disabled until the operator explicitly configures and enables them.
Use cases
- Private quantitative research labs
- AI-assisted market analysis
- Python strategy development and reproducible backtesting
- Paper-trading education and training
- Internal research and monitoring for fintech teams
- Building quantitative analytics and agent-enabled applications
Technology
Vue 3 frontend, Flask and Strategy API V2 backend, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, Celery, Docker Compose, and optional Prometheus/Grafana/Alertmanager observability.
Licensing
The backend is Apache 2.0. The prebuilt frontend is source-available under a separate license allowing personal and qualified non-commercial use for free. Commercial deployment requires an appropriate license. QuantDinger is localized across 10 languages.
Built by OpenByte Inc.
Highlights
- AI-Assisted Quantitative Research: Combine multi-provider AI market analysis with Python Strategy API V2, reproducible server-side backtesting, preserved code and configuration snapshots, and realistic commissions, slippage, sizing, leverage, and risk controls.
- Self-Hosted on AWS: Deploy the coordinated application stack through CloudFormation Quick Create. Keep research data, provider credentials, strategy code, and operational records in infrastructure you control, with encrypted storage, non-root containers, scoped access, and audit logs.
- Paper-First Strategy Automation: Develop and evaluate strategies in simulation before enabling optional external account integrations. Includes tenant-scoped MCP tools, rate limits, operator-controlled permissions, and an emergency stop for controlled automation.

QuantDinger Full Stack Containers

Container image
Containers are lightweight, portable execution environments that wrap server application software in a filesystem that includes everything it needs to run. Container applications run on supported container runtimes and orchestration services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). Both eliminate the need for you to install and operate your own container orchestration software by managing and scheduling containers on a scalable cluster of virtual machines.
Version release notes
Improves the AWS launch experience with a validated CloudFormation Quick Create link. Buyers now open a pre-populated Create stack page instead of downloading the deployment template. Container images and application code are unchanged from 2026.10.27.

Usage instructions
Recommended CloudFormation Quick Create deployment:
- Subscribe to the product and accept the terms in the AWS account that will run the stack.
- Under Deployment templates, open 'Launch QuantDinger on one EC2 instance (CloudFormation Quick Create)'. The AWS CloudFormation Create stack page opens with the template and stack name pre-filled.
- Choose the target AWS Region. Set AllowedCidr to your public IPv4 address followed by /32, choose a supported Availability Zone, and select t3.large or larger.
- Review the storage settings, acknowledge creation of IAM resources, and choose Create stack. Initial deployment normally takes 10-30 minutes.
- After CREATE_COMPLETE, open the Outputs tab and use WebUrl or MobileWebUrl. The administrator username is admin.
- AdminPasswordParameter contains the Systems Manager Parameter Store path for the generated initial password. Retrieve it in the same Region with permission to call ssm:GetParameter and kms:Decrypt.
- Sign in, rotate the initial password, and configure the data, AI, notification, and optional broker integrations required for your use case.
The six images form one application and run on one EC2 instance in the default template. QuantDinger software costs USD 0; normal AWS infrastructure charges apply. The default single-node topology is intended for evaluation and private deployments. Configure HTTPS, backups, monitoring, and restrictive network access before broader use.

After deployment and first login:
When the CloudFormation stack reaches CREATE_COMPLETE, open the stack Outputs tab. Use WebUrl or MobileWebUrl to open QuantDinger. The administrator username is admin. AdminPasswordParameter shows the Systems Manager Parameter Store path containing the generated initial password. In the same AWS Region, open Systems Manager > Parameter Store, select that SecureString parameter, and choose Show, or retrieve it with AWS CLI using --with-decryption. The AWS principal must have ssm:GetParameter and kms:Decrypt. Change the administrator password immediately after first login, restrict AllowedCidr, and configure HTTPS before broad public access.
