You pay by the hour for this hardened CentOS Stream 10 machine image. Pricing is usage-based, so charges accrue only while an instance runs. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type. The rate you pay depends on which instance type you launch. Larger instances with more compute, memory, or specialized hardware (GPU, storage, or accelerator families) carry higher hourly rates. Smaller general-purpose instances carry lower rates. You choose the instance type that fits your workload, and the software cost scales with that choice. No upfront commitment applies.

What am I actually paying for with the hourly rate on each instance type?
You pay a software licence fee for the hardened CentOS Stream 10 machine image, metered per running instance-hour. The rate is tied to the AWS EC2 instance type you launch. AWS charges the underlying compute separately. The instance type sets the CPU, memory, and any specialized hardware you receive.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
The software fee meters running time only. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes may still apply while the instance is stopped, but those are separate AWS charges, not the software licence.
If I switch to a different instance type, how does my cost change?
Each instance type maps to its own hourly rate. When you launch a different type, the software charge shifts to that type's rate automatically for the hours it runs. There is no upfront commitment, so you can move between instance types as your workload needs change.
