64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Using the AMI
The Quantexa Decision Intelligence Platform AMI includes a web-based download interface that allows customers to easily download the Quantexa bundle through their browser.
Quick Start
- Launch the AMI instance in your AWS account
- Configure Security Group to allow HTTP traffic, or Use AWS SSM to connect directly (see below)
- Access the UI:
- If using Security Group: Navigate to http://<instance-public-ip>
- If using AWS SSM: Navigate to <http://localhost> after establishing the tunnel
- Click "Download Quantexa Bundle" to download the file
Security Group Configuration
Before you can access the web UI, you must configure your instance's security group to allow inbound HTTP traffic:
Via AWS Console:
-
Go to EC2 Console > Security Groups
-
Select your instance's security group
-
Click "Edit inbound rules"
-
Add rule:
- Type: HTTP
- Port: 80
- Source: Your IP address (recommended) or 0.0.0.0/0 (public access)
-
Save rules
Via AWS CLI:
# Replace with your security group ID and your IP address aws ec2 authorize-security-group-ingress \ --group-id sg-xxxxxxxxx \ --protocol tcp \ --port 80 \ --cidr YOUR.IP.ADDRESS.HERE/32Security Best Practice: Restrict access to your IP address or corporate VPN range rather than allowing public access (0.0.0.0/0).
Alternative: AWS SSM
If you prefer not to open port 80 to the internet, you can access the UI using AWS SSM.
Prerequisites:
- AWS CLI installed and configured on your local machine
- Instance must have an IAM role attached with the AmazonSSMManagedInstanceCore managed policy (or equivalent SSM permissions)
- SSM Agent must be running on the instance (pre-installed in this AMI)
Access Steps:
# Create AWS SSM tunnel aws ssm start-session --target <instance-id> \ --document-name AWS-StartPortForwardingSession \ --parameters '{"portNumber":["80"],"localPortNumber":["80"]}' # Then access in your browser: # <http://localhost>AMI Contents
- No user defined state is stored in the AMI
- The Quantexa bundle is encrypted, and Quantexa must be contacted for decryption
- No user defined cryptographic material is expected, so no rotation is required
- There are no proprietary data stores in the AMI
- Perform the following steps to check the health of a deployed instance:
- Navigate to your Amazon EC2 console and verify that you're in the correct region
- Choose Instances and select your launched instance
- Select the server to display your metadata page and choose the Status checks tab at the bottom of the page to review if your status checks passed or failed
