ERPNext: Modern Enterprise Resource Planning Platform
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. The software price is the same across all fourteen options; your cost changes with the compute size you pick. Small instances (t2.small, t3.small, t3a.small) suit lighter workloads. Medium instances (t2.medium, t3.medium, t3a.medium, m7a.medium) add more capacity. Large instances (m4.large, m5.large, m5a.large, m6a.large, c5.large, c5a.large, c6a.large) handle heavier traffic. You can upgrade to a larger instance later as your needs grow. Billing runs hourly with no upfront commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly software charge cover, and what runs the underlying compute?
You pay the hourly software fee for the pre-configured ERPNext image plus the AWS EC2 instance you launch. The whole environment runs in your own AWS account. You control the data, network security, and access policies. AWS bills the EC2 compute separately from the software charge.
Am I charged when I stop the ERPNext instance?
The software charge meters running hours only. When you stop the instance from the EC2 console, hourly software charges stop accruing. You can restart it later by selecting "Start instance". Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, which are billed by AWS.
How do I move to a larger instance type as my usage grows?
You can upgrade the EC2 instance type or configure auto-scaling for higher traffic. Your hourly rate then follows the instance type you select. The deployment runs on scalable AWS infrastructure, and vendor support can assist with the change.

CloudFormation Template (CFT)
AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."
