Includes the SSL Manager, Channel History, and Message Generator extensions built in!
Designed to handle a diverse range of healthcare data standards, Mirth® Connect unifies and simplifies communication between disparate systems, providing a robust, reliable and seamless information exchange. Supports various message formats and interface standards, including HL7, XML, CCD, DICOM, EDI, and NCPDP.
Includes the SSL Manager, Channel History, and Message Generator extensions built in!
Like an interpreter who translates foreign languages into the one you understand, Mirth® Connect by NextGen Healthcare translates message standards into the one your system understands. Whenever a "foreign" system sends you a message, Mirth Connect's integration capabilities expedite the following:
Filtering: Mirth Connect Reads message parameters and passes the message to or stops it on its way to the transformation stage.
Transformation: Mirth Connect Converts the incoming message standard to another standard (e.g., HL7 to XML).
Extraction: Mirth Connect "Pulls" data from and "pushes" data to a database.
Routing: Mirth Connect ensures messages arrive at their assigned destinations.
These premium extensions are also included:
SSL Manager: Create, import, export, and apply certificates to any of your inbound or outbound connections. Allows you to easily enable secure HTTPS traffic, for example.
Channel History: Every time a channel or code template is updated, all revision history is automatically saved. You can view previous revisions and who made them, compare revisions, and even revert to a previous revision.
Message Generator: Allows you to easily generate sample HL7 v2.x messages that you can use to test your channels with. Adds a button to the Send Message dialog, and to the transformer Message Templates pane.

AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the software running on an EC2 instance, so cost tracks the compute size you pick. The ten options are all EC2 instance types in two families. The t3 sizes (micro, small, medium, large, xlarge, 2xlarge) suit lighter or variable workloads. The m5 sizes (large, xlarge, 2xlarge, 4xlarge) give balanced compute for steadier, higher-volume integration work. Within each family, hourly cost rises as the instance size increases in CPU and memory. You select one instance type to match your expected message volume and processing demand.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Am I charged the hourly software fee when my EC2 instance is stopped or powered off?
The hourly software charge applies only while the instance runs. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. You may still owe underlying AWS charges, such as storage for the attached volume, but the software meters running time only.
How does the hourly pricing work, and is there any upfront commitment?
You pay per hour for each running instance, with no upfront commitment. Charges accrue only while the instance runs. This pay-as-you-go model suits variable or trial workloads. You can start, stop, or resize instances as your message volume changes, and the bill follows the hours used.
Does the hourly charge cover software extensions, or are those licensed separately?
The listing bundles the SSL Manager, Channel History, and Message Generator features into the hourly software charge. Per the vendor, extensions are not sold individually and come only as part of a Mirth Connect license. You do not pay a separate per-interface or per-data-source fee for these.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
A local PostgreSQL 15 server is also installed, and is used by Mirth Connect by default. You can point to an external database instead if you wish, see the User Guide for the correct configuration options, and see below for sample user data you can use during launch.
By default, Mirth Connect is configured to use 50% of the system RAM (Java max heap size).
Mirth Connect is an actively supported integration engine developed and maintained by NextGen Healthcare, a leading provider of healthcare technology solutions.
