Charon Emulators - Extended Proof of Concept (PoC)

Supplier (Stromasys) provides Cross-Platform Virtualization / Server Virtualization software (Charon) that allows owners of Sun or SPARC/Solaris, DEC Alpha, or PA/RISC computers to continue running their mission-critical applications unchanged on new industry standard computer systems. Charon products preserve current application investments by enabling users to continue to use their existing applications and business processes. Since everything continues to run without modification, no re-training or re-staffing is required. Charon products dramatically lower cost-of-ownership by reducing computer footprint, energy consumption, and cooling costs, while eliminating the risks associated with running on aging hardware.

Integral to the PoC will be the ability to demonstrate the functionality of the applications in a Virtual/Charon environment. Some of the benefits of this capability being the ability for the customer to continue to utilize these critical applications without the cost of porting, migrating, or retraining; as well as the reduced maintenance cost realized by moving these applications to industry standard servers.

Scope of Work/Terms of PoC Stromasys will provide the following services (collectively, the "Services"):

Phase 1: This phase is Discovery & Evaluation. Stromasys will will gather data/information about the legacy system and perform an evaluation and recommendation as to Charon model and the current system(s) as relates to the PoC. Stromasys will perform a pre-review of the hardware and software configurations as relates to the PoC, including provide a recommendation for the new server platform (EC2/storage/networking) required for the Charon solution as relates to the PoC.

Phase 2: This phase provides for the testing of the Charon solution as relates to the potential migration from legacy technology to a new Charon virtualization environment. This project will be delivered as per the following: The Charon software will be installed on an EC2 instance provided by the Customer that meets the system requirements for the Charon virtualization environment The legacy data will be migrated to the Charon EC2 host system The Charon system will boot up and settings adjusted as necessary so as not to conflict with existing production settings (network addresses, et.al.) The Customer will test the Charon system, and Stromasys will assist as issues arise, if any.
