What is our primary use case?
Our main use case for Flexera Cloud Cost Management is to visualize cloud cost for a multi-cloud setup which includes AWS and Azure, and we also use recommendations where we can optimize the cost and utilize our cloud resources better.
A specific example of how we've used Flexera Cloud Cost Management to optimize costs or visualize our cloud spend is when we visualized cloud cost by different resources such as compute, storage, and licenses, and tracked the usage history to identify unutilized compute resources that were incurring costs, recommending them for decommissioning.
In addition, we use Flexera Cloud Cost Management as a visualization tool that provides a very granular breakdown of cost across different divisions and resources, allowing us to segregate recommendations across different categories of cloud resources.
How has it helped my organization?
Flexera Cloud Cost Management has positively impacted our organization by helping us bring down our cloud costs by approximately 5%, effectively eliminating wasteful costs that were not adding value due to unoptimized resources incurring regular costs.
We identified those wasteful resources primarily through the recommendations and custom reports, where we tracked these resources' costs by month and compared them with usage, flagging anomalies where usage was negligible or not in line with costs observed, while matching it with our recommendation engine to target resources for optimization.
What is most valuable?
One of the best features that Flexera Cloud Cost Management offers is integration with multiple cloud providers, which allows an organization transitioning from one cloud to another to use this one tool to get visualizations and insights about their cloud cost.
The feature that stands out in Flexera Cloud Cost Management is the customizability of the reports, allowing us to create visualizations for IT teams and business leaders with a wide variety of customizations and flexibility in creating the reports for these different audiences, and granularity in tracking the cost to a resource level shows the trend of how that resource performs in relation to the cost.
Regarding Flexera Cloud Cost Management's AI capabilities, I find that its governance and security aspects work well, as it supports role-based access control that governs what kind of authorities or groups have what kind of authority.
What needs improvement?
Flexera Cloud Cost Management could be improved by better integration with on-premises servers or on-premises resources, as tracking costs for on-premises servers poses challenges, especially for organizations migrating to cloud while retaining some workloads on-premises, necessitating better integration for end-to-end cost visibility.
During my usage, I felt that the recommendation engine in Flexera Cloud Cost Management could be enhanced if it allowed users to customize it or create their own metrics from existing ones, which would have been really helpful.
The accuracy and reliability of Flexera Cloud Cost Management is really good, but having customizations in the recommendations could benefit different business units that may have varying rules regarding their cloud cost optimization priorities.

I was not involved in the decision regarding pricing and setup costs, but I believe the pricing structure may have been set higher because it operates on a model where a portion of savings goes as fees rather than a per-user basis.
What other advice do I have?
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Flexera Cloud Cost Management at nine.
I gave it a nine because it works really well for organizations that have all their resources in the cloud, but for those with some on-premises resources, it may present challenges; however, given that most workloads are now cloud-based, I believe a nine is a fair rating.

We use both AWS and Azure as our cloud providers.
My advice to others looking into using Flexera Cloud Cost Management is to first assess what kind of cloud resources they have and ensure they integrate properly with Flexera, as it all starts with an initial analysis of the cloud landscape to benefit from any cost optimization solution, including Flexera.

What is our primary use case?
I normally use Flexera AdminStudio application, which is a suite for enterprise application packaging, including the packaging of Windows software, MSI, MSIX, and App-V, among other things. As part of my business activities, I use this software extensively and it helps to make our process delivery and business delivery much easier, compliant, and secure for enterprise-wide deployments across the organization.
Our team has Flexera Cloud Cost Management because we deploy the packages through their cloud management solution, Flexera One software. They are optimizing costs and our project leads use it to optimize costs whenever there are deliveries for applications or automations and pipelines created.
Our team uses Flexera Cloud Cost Management. I do have hands-on experience with Flexera AdminStudio and Flexera One for enterprise-wide IT delivery and asset management.
What is most valuable?
One thing I appreciate most about Flexera Cloud Cost Management is that it allows users to pay for only the things they use, with no additional features beyond what they need. Users and organizations can optimize their costs and have fewer expenses whenever things are not in use.
The dashboards for insights are effective for seeing information and tracking services and things that I am using. If I am doing some work, that can also be tracked on a dashboard. This is beneficial because I do not have to call SQL or Power BI queries and create separate dashboards for my work; those are integrated within the software.
The detailed cost analysis for budgeting feature is valuable because it provides proper information and transparency about what it will cost for which feature, for how much duration, allowing organizations and teams to plan their budgets accordingly. It helps to create an estimate, and this is beneficial because teams do not feel they have paid more than what they expected in the initial costings.
What needs improvement?
One area for improvement with Flexera Cloud Cost Management is that they could include more features for shared resources. If someone wants to share a license and they are working in a group, they could use instances and services in a shared manner, but currently some licenses need to be purchased separately for this functionality.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Flexera overall for four point two years.
I have been currently working in my field for four point four years. When I started my career, the business unit I joined already had these softwares in use and they are part of our day-to-day activities. So I have been using it since my career start.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Regarding stability, one time we experienced some downtime, but this is normal because we are in the IT world where things may be updating from the backend or there may be occasional downtime. It was resolved after one or two hours and was back to normal. This is acceptable and normal.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Flexera Cloud Cost Management is scalable. It is an enterprise solution that can be used in large environments and large organizations, providing good features.
How are customer service and support?
I have contacted their technical support via email when we had some issues.
We receive an auto-generated email first for acknowledgment whenever we share a query, then within a day or less than thirty-six hours, we receive a reply to our queries. This is good and consistent with normal business activities. This is the normal timing for every vendor support.
I would give the support a score of eight to nine out of ten.
How was the initial setup?
The initial deployment was fine because we had worked with other tools and had some information about Flexera Cloud Cost Management when it was coming. We had some training sessions, which was beneficial.
We had the lab created in two or three days because we had five-hour sessions in a day with some breaks. We had ten to fifteen hours of sessions total, so we understood the information and attempted to install it, which was completed in two or three business days.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Regarding the pricing, Flexera Cloud Cost Management is not for common users or normal users on the internet; for them, it would be expensive. However, since it is an enterprise business software and business tool, and according to that category, we use this in a larger environment in the organization where there are more than five thousand to ten thousand people. For that, I would say it is reasonably priced; not too expensive and not too cheap, it is good.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I have tried using Microsoft Azure services, which have their cost management features.
In our business delivery process, I prefer Flexera Cloud Cost Management more because we are more compliant with Flexera only since we use other services and products from Flexera. For us, it is beneficial since we have our kind of environment and synchronization between the applications and services. Everything is integrated in one place, and we do not have to work with different vendors on different things because it is all sorted for us.
What other advice do I have?
We are obtaining some scripts so that we can have some automation tasks enabled and will work on them.

Flexera One is an incredibly capable platform, but it definitely isn't a plug-and-play solution. The biggest challenge we experienced was the complexity. The tool can provide deep visibility into software licensing, cloud spending, and asset management, but it takes significant training and effort to understand how to fully leverage its capabilities.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Flexera One is the centralized visibility it provides across our software assets, licenses, and cloud resources. Before implementing Flexera One, tracking software usage and compliance required significant manual effort across multiple tools. Now, we can automate reporting, improve license compliance, and identify cost-saving opportunities much more efficiently. The platform's intuitive interface makes it easy to access key information, while its integration capabilities help consolidate data from different systems. The onboarding process was straightforward, and the support team has been responsive whenever assistance was needed. Overall, Flexera One has helped us save time, improve decision-making, and gain better control over IT spending.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is very little to dislike about Flexera One. Some advanced features require additional training to use effectively, and certain workflows could be simplified. Overall, it is a valuable platform that continues to improve and meet our needs.

Before using Flexera One, tracking software licenses and IT assets across multiple systems was time-consuming and prone to inconsistencies. With Flexera One, we now have centralized visibility and automated reporting, which has improved compliance, reduced manual effort, and helped us make better decisions regarding software and cloud spending. What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate Flexera One's recommendations, which have helped us save a lot of money by identifying unused components. I also like the detailed information in the exported reports, which makes decision-making easier. Additionally, the Flexera dashboard and the report generation tool are really helpful because they provide detailed information about everything.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the reports have too much information and a lot of recommendations, and I'm expecting some smarter recommendations. The main areas for improvement are usability, automation, and reports. Some workflows require multiple navigations to different windows, which is a bit of a hassle. Also, reporting and filtering should be more flexible. The initial setup was medium complex, which might be improved for easier adoption.

What is our primary use case?
Flexera Cloud Cost Management is excellent for enterprise cost allocation and multi-cloud billing. At one of the companies I worked with, we used AWS and Azure, and what Flexera Cloud Cost Management does in this capacity is aggregate and translate bills into one single model.
For example, with NTT Data, we had AWS and Azure, so Flexera Cloud Cost Management was used in storage allocation and expense. It works with waste reduction and infrastructure resizing. For the engineers, we would leave expensive resources idle or underutilized, so we could continually audit the CPU and storage metrics to pinpoint zombie assets, particularly within storage. We had unattached disks, and there would also be cases that would impact something such as VMware.
What is most valuable?
The best features of Flexera Cloud Cost Management include the cross-provider dashboards. If you are using multiple cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or even Google Cloud, you can put it in one format, and you do not have any vendor silos. This allows leadership to aggregate cloud expenditure, run cloud comparisons, and manage governance policies. Additionally, the right-sizing and waste reduction with storage, VMs, and memory provide actionable recommendations for downsizing options.
Working on the engineering and administration side of infrastructure, I find resource optimization to be the most valuable feature of Flexera Cloud Cost Management on a day-to-day basis. There have been many times when storage would not be used or I would have zombie infrastructure with unattached disks, particularly within VMware, and that can be very costly, as everything is being underutilized and you do not even know it is there. This definitely was incredibly helpful for the infrastructure keepers.
Flexera Cloud Cost Management helps show what is being underutilized within the infrastructure, and it can also give you a billable unit across the different cloud platforms, effective rates of what you are spending per cloud, contract commitments, structures, and different outcome models based on savings and share pricing. These are things I would know sitting in meetings, so it definitely was a big help for the enterprise overall, from a business side as well as the infrastructure side.
What needs improvement?
It has been a while since I used Flexera Cloud Cost Management, and the features that I saw, I thought were great. I believe there is a model for a Spend Tier, and I believe they are looking into it, as it prices total gross cloud consumption, something that business management would examine. I think it is rather expensive, around 40,000 to 60,000 to have that feature, as well as the Asset Entitlement Scope, which tracks spending.
I cannot think of anything else regarding needed improvements for Flexera Cloud Cost Management.
For how long have I used the solution?
I started using Flexera Cloud Cost Management in 2017 and used it for a few years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Flexera Cloud Cost Management is very stable, as I did not have any issues with it, which is critical when testing hardware or software for stability, especially regarding how it looks into waste. It eliminated waste, resource sprawl, and any type of bill shock across AWS ecosystems, focusing on granular, actionable AWS infrastructure telemetry.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Flexera Cloud Cost Management is quite scalable, meaning how accurate cost allocation would be for automated data ingestion, especially when dealing with scaling challenges that come when a company is spinning up more accounts and projects. It has asynchronous pipeline ingestion.
How are customer service and support?
I never had any issues with customer support for Flexera Cloud Cost Management.
Regarding customer support, they provided online case management for active maintenance for their subscription plans, and they had a knowledge base and documentation, which many companies have. They also had account linking assistance to help users with any login issues or profile resets, and they had direct telephone support.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
It was a decision to go with Flexera Cloud Cost Management because it is excellent, but there are others such as IBM, Broadcom's CloudZero, and numerous different solutions. It was a decision of the business leaders to bring that in, which did not mean we did not utilize others, but we brought this in.
How was the initial setup?
At that particular time, Flexera Cloud Cost Management was on-premises, and we used Azure and AWS. With AWS, it integrated cost and usage reports and pushed through the Amazon S3 bucket with the IAM cross-account roles for resource telemetry. For Azure, it connected with Enterprise Agreements and billing profiles, but we used it on-site with private cloud connectors. The way we rolled it out involved a centralized setup integrated with multi-cloud billing feeds, followed by tagging with allocation rules and governance policy automation, which was several different phases, three to five phases, I believe, focusing on governance and then engineering enablement.
What was our ROI?
The savings I saw from Flexera Cloud Cost Management include waste reclaim of idle IP addresses, EBS disk volumes, and overprovisioned virtual machines within the VMware environment, as these things drain budgets without being beneficial in any way. I definitely saw this quickly, and it absolutely maximizes the ROI for long-term commitments with AWS instances or Azure savings plans, making it a plus for container workloads as well.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I did not have anything to do with pricing, setup cost, or licensing, but I can provide some information on it.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Flexera Cloud Cost Management, I believe some of IBM's options were examined, and there were many different cost management tools considered such as SAP cost management. A lot of different options were reviewed and some were still being utilized while we brought in Flexera Cloud Cost Management to work within a particular aspect of the business.
What other advice do I have?
For others looking at Flexera Cloud Cost Management, I advise that you know your company's needs and consider pricing, what tier you need, and what that tier offers.
If you could adopt a hybrid posture with Flexera Cloud Cost Management, I would suggest it. I gave this review a rating of 8 out of 10.

What do you like best about the product?
Flexera One is a valuable tool that I use daily to support local IT operations. It provides a clear, organized, and easy-to-navigate view of our IT assets, helping us manage resources efficiently and maintain good visibility across the environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Flexera One offers a lot of capabilities, which is a strength, but it can take some time for new users to become familiar with all the available features. Some advanced reporting and dashboard options could be easier to configure, and certain data integrations may require additional setup efforts. Overall, these are minor challenges compared to the value the platform provides.
