Reliable PAM solution that enhances compliance and reduces risk

  • June 04, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Arcon provide a granual access control system that helps ensure only the right users access sensitive system at the right ime. I especially felt good with real time monitoring and session recording features, which offer visibility and auditing.

The UI has improved significantly over the past year, making navigation and policy configuration easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
Initially, the integration with certain legacy systems was a bit cumbersome, and the documentation didn’t cover every edge case. While support is generally responsive, resolving complex technical issues can sometimes take longer than expected.

Password export option were complicated while migrating to another PAM solution.
Customizable dashboards and reports weren't available.
Integration with Jumpcloud(IDP) wasn't feasible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before ARCON PAM, we struggled with managing privileged credentials manually and had limited audit trails. Now, we have automated credential vaulting, seamless access provisioning, and detailed session logs.

This had not only enhances compliance (especially for audits like ISO, GDPR,PCI and HIPAA etc.) but also significantly reduced insider threats. It's become a central part of our zero-trust approach to security tool monitoring.

Enhanced security through session monitoring and activity recording

  • May 05, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Currently, I access our server through the R-Course application, which serves as a part of RDP, Remote Desktop. However, I connect to my RDP server through the ARCON Privileged Access Management credentials using two-factor authentication, rather than directly through RDP.

What is most valuable?

My company policy identified ARCON Privileged Access Management as good for communicating with our server from a security perspective. When I access our server through ARCON Privileged Access Management, it stores all recordings and activities. These records can be helpful for troubleshooting or addressing any security threats. It offers session monitoring capabilities, which adds another layer of security.

What needs improvement?

From an end-user point of view, it would be beneficial if the system could provide information about the last login. This would help identify if the server was accessed by me or if someone has potentially stolen my credentials. It would provide a clearer picture of whether ARCON Privileged Access Management is accessed by an authentic user.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using ARCON Privileged Access Management for around two and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability of ARCON Privileged Access Management as nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

ARCON Privileged Access Management is also rated nine for scalability because it is license-based, making it easy to manage based on the number of licenses.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support for ARCON Privileged Access Management is also rated nine out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, the RDP access policies were managed by our IT team. But over the last two years, the scenario at our company has changed. We are now using ARCON Privileged Access Management to access our server.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is simple with a one-time registration. After setup, it is hassle-free.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Someone using RDP might use different solutions like Citrix or VMware. It depends on the company and how they manage their security threats.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate ARCON Privileged Access Management nine out of ten. I definitely recommend it to other users.

Provides valuable features like vaulting and command blacklisting but stability issues with disconnections and high availability

  • June 11, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

ARCON can be used to protect privileged entities by granting access via remote RDP, SSH, or recorded systems. Any activity on the server, endpoint, or network device is recorded for compliance.

Traffic is routed through a gateway, which enhances security by not requiring many open ports. This provides secure connectivity between the end user and the servers. ARCON also has password vaulting features, so passwords are not shared with users.

Additionally, ARCON allows for just-in-time access to privileged terminals when needed and has implemented approval levels for access to critical servers.

How has it helped my organization?

The session management capabilities are helpful. The session recording feature for system handling is good. It also eliminates the need to open many ports for end-users, simplifying access.

Only one port needs to be opened from the user's machine to the PAM server, and the PAM gateway will connect to the end server. This can be customized to use custom ports, further enhancing security.

What is most valuable?

The vaulting feature is valuable. Another feature I like is the ability to blacklist critical commands, preventing them from running on the server.

What needs improvement?

The solution could be more stable as we've encountered bugs and issues.

I'd also suggest adding a browser isolation feature to prevent cache storage on endpoints and mitigate cache-based attacks. This could be crucial as many attacks originate from browsers.

In future releases, I would like to see AI features added. It would be beneficial for tasks like detecting malicious activity during sessions, enhancing response capabilities, and providing hunting queries for log analysis.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for more than two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We've faced disconnection issues and problems with the high availability solution not switching over properly between primary and secondary servers.

Maintenance is definitely required for the database and other components, but it's not overly complex.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability becomes challenging as the number of accounts increases, as it's an on-premises solution. I'm not sure if ARCON has moved towards the cloud, but the version I worked with was on-premises only.

How are customer service and support?

It's not very satisfactory. We've found it difficult to get timely responses and resolutions. We don't always get priority support. So, there is room for improvement in the response time.

What was our ROI?

It indirectly saves a lot by providing security to critical infrastructure. The recording and auditing features deter illegal or suspicious activities, ultimately saving money and time.

What other advice do I have?

I would give it a seven out of ten. It's not bad, but it could be improved.

I would definitely recommend it if it fits their needs, but if they have access to better solutions like CyberArk, they could explore those.

Offers good session monitoring and recording features

  • March 25, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution in my company since the product is very good.

In one of the use cases attached to the solution, I remember that an ID got locked after being unable to unlock the ID three or four times as per company policy. As per the organization's policy, if you try to run a password three or four times, it will get locked. No options are available in ARCON Privileged Access Management to unlock a locked ID.

What is most valuable?

What needs improvement?

Some options are required in the tool, especially to help in scenarios where if a user's ID gets locked, that person cannot unlock the ID from ARCON Privileged Access Management. Even the technical team in my company cannot unlock any locked ID with the help of the tool. Even if there is an admin password, ARCON Privileged Access Management releases it using its functionalities, allowing users to generate a password during an emergency. If an ID gets locked, the tool cannot unlock it, making it an area where improvements are required.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using ARCON Privileged Access Management for ten years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Considering that the product has been used in my company for more than ten years, I can say that the stability part is good.

I rate the tool's stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution.

How was the initial setup?

The product's deployment phase was easy.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before ARCON Privileged Access Management, my company had used many solutions. My organization started to use ARCON Privileged Access Management since it was a management decision.

What other advice do I have?

The credential part of the product needs to be improved so that the tool can improve our company's security posture.

The session monitoring and recording features in the product are okay.

I recommend the product for huge organizations.

The product's ability to offer supportive scalability features for our organization is good.

The value of using the tool stems from the fact that it is useful in areas like remote control and password encryption.

I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

Reliable, efficient, and offers competitive pricing

  • January 26, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is most valuable?

One standout feature of ARCON is its ability to resolve lagging issues, especially noticeable in Linux environments. Beyond that, it matches up well in terms of capacity with other products, though some minor quirks may pop up, but those have been successfully addressed for the customers I have worked with. Additionally, ARCON's session monitoring and recording features are quite good.

What needs improvement?

A few areas for improvement in ARCON would be performance optimization, ensuring smoother management. Also, clarity on licensing mechanisms, particularly regarding user accounts, could use some improvement. It would be great if these details were readily available on the website for easy access and communication with customers.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with ARCON Privileged Access Management for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

My clients have not had any stability issues with ARCON.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

When it comes to scalability, ARCON PAM is generally good. However, a bit more clarity on how the licensing handles additional privileged users would be beneficial.

My clients using ARCON PAM typically fall into the SMB category, with user numbers usually less than 500.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Clients have been drawn to ARCON Privileged Access Management mainly because of its competitive pricing compared to BeyondTrust.

How was the initial setup?

In the environment I have worked with, a team of around 17 in the IT department manages ARCON. However, when it comes to handling the solution, two people are enough for smooth operation.

What other advice do I have?

Based on my experience with ARCON PAM, I would give it a solid seven out of ten. In my six months of selling the product, I haven't received many complaints.
