Reliable backups have protected client data and provide confident recovery after incidents
What is our primary use case?
We use Veeam Data Platform for roughly five of our clients, and in my department, I think we have eleven clients total.
Five of those clients are using it exclusively for Veeam Data Platform, and I cannot say anything bad about Veeam Data Platform. The support is very easy to reach out to, and the engineers are very well-versed in the product. They really know how the product works, and if we have any problems, they easily assist our support team. We have twenty-four by seven support with Jet.
We have a client that has virtual machines, so that is what we are using the backup for. We also use the reporting tool that has been very helpful in knowing the backup package of customer service management.
What is most valuable?
One thing that I like about Veeam Data Platform is the encryption feature. We activated that encryption feature, and while I am not sure about any other security features, that is one of the security features that we activated, which is the daily encryption.
Veeam Data Platform is very straightforward by far. If I were to compare it to IBM with Spectrum Protect, Veeam Data Platform is very simple, especially the verification. It is very straightforward; you do not have to configure a lot of things, so that is why we are using it.
I would rate it as ten out of ten for its straightforward nature in terms of ease of managing, deploying, and using the solution.
What needs improvement?
There is a limitation on the bare metal backup. I think that is the main limitation. If we would have that flexibility on the bare metal backup, it would be a very complete package.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using Veeam Data Platform since twenty twenty-two, and it is a new setup for us.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Veeam Data Platform is very easy to scale out, and I would rate it as eight.
How are customer service and support?
The support is very easy to reach out to, and the engineers are very well-versed in the product. They really know how the product works, and if we have any problems, they easily assist our support team. We have twenty-four by seven support with Jet.
Veeam Data Platform has never failed, and there has never been an issue recovering data.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Potential customers can do a POC just as we did and see for themselves the ease of use, the flexibility, and the lack of complex configuration when comparing it to NetBackup or IBM Spectrum Protect.
How was the initial setup?
The setup of Veeam Data Platform is very straightforward. We just fired up the backup version and the staging server. The configuration is also very easy, so we have not had any issues and we are very happy with how it was set up. It is the most effective recovery software that we have.
Based on our experience in setting up the backup, the installation itself and the configuration is very straightforward. We just followed what is in the guide. A vendor assisted us, so we did not have any problems or issues.
What other advice do I have?
We do have experience using some backup and recovery software.
We are using Veeam Data Platform for one of our clients and we are using NETStack Hub for another client.
We have IBM for backup as well.
That is the Spectrum Protect that is IBM, PowerVM, or Spectrum compute and protect, which is IBM protection.
For development, we are using Veeam Data Platform.
I would rate stability as nine out of ten.
The reason it is not ten is because there is room for improvement.
The licensing part would need to be checked.
The benefits from using Veeam Data Platform include reliability and peace of mind. Whenever you need a backup, you do not have to worry about it because we have experienced it, and Veeam Data Platform has never failed. There has never been an issue recovering data.
When you have Veeam Data Platform in your environment, if you ever need to recover data, you would have it at ninety-nine point ninety-nine percent. If you ever face any disaster, it depends on how you set up your recovery time objective or recovery point objective. Based on our experience, I can guarantee you would have a very good data recovery landscape when you have Veeam Data Platform onboard.

Veeam: Fast, Simple Backups and Restores for VMware
What do you like best about the product?
Veeam is the GOAT. Quick backups and restores and protects our VMware environment with ease. Setup is simple, backups are quick.
What do you dislike about the product?
Be careful when deploying! VBR appliance disks cannot be expanded if need be. We initially deployed using the OVA and we outgrew this fast. Ended up having to redeploy via ISO.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having switched from Veeam to a competitor then back to Veeam, I have come to appreciate both the simplicity and control that Veeam offers. Veeam seamlessly integrates with VMware along with backing up AD system states, SQL backups with native tools and unstructured file shares.
Easy Setup and Great Backup Integration with zCompute

A specific example of how I use Veeam Data Platform for backup and disaster recovery involves an instant recovery situation with a historical critical application on one VM, where a storage-level problem occurred. Veeam Data Platform helped by directly mounting the latest backup repository.
Another main use case includes ransomware protection, VM failure, and instant recovery in Veeam Data Platform, avoiding minimum downtime and data loss.
I use Veeam Data Platform to protect a mix of critical enterprise workloads, including virtual machines, file servers, NAS data, Active Directory, and databases.

The best feature of Veeam Data Platform is its comprehensive capabilities.

I have not used a different solution and have been using Veeam Data Platform since day one.

I have seen a clear return on investment with Veeam Data Platform in terms of time savings and reduced downtime, with downtime reduced from four to six hours in operational efficiency. Timing is saved by forty to fifty percent, and faster recovery operations now take thirty to sixty minutes, down from five to ten minutes.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with pricing, setup costs, and licensing for Veeam Data Platform shows that the licensing is flexible. The VUL model offers good value, although the cost planning and licensing system can be complex in larger environments.
What other advice do I have?
Backup scheduling and automation with Veeam Data Platform are straightforward without any major challenges.
I perform restores on a regular basis for both testing and operational needs, and the reliability of those restores has been excellent. My restoration frequency includes periodic testing and scheduled restoration testing. Because of regular testing, I have a confidence level that contributes to a near one hundred percent success rate, thanks to backup verification features like SureBackup.
The management of capacity planning and storage management with Veeam Data Platform is smooth without any challenges.
My advice for others looking into using Veeam Data Platform is to plan your setup properly, use immutable backups, and regularly test restoration to ensure you get a minimum reliable and valuable experience with Veeam Data Platform. I would rate this product nine out of ten overall.
Fast, Flexible Data Protection with Near-Instant Recovery
What do you like best about the product?
Veeam Software offers a well-rounded approach to data protection, making it easy to back up and recover data quickly across virtual, physical, and cloud environments. It stands out with features like immutable, ransomware-resistant storage and near-instant recovery times, which help minimize downtime. Everything is managed through a single, unified console, simplifying day-to-day operations. On top of that, it provides flexibility across platforms like AWS, Azure, and SaaS applications, while built-in automation and monitoring help keep things running smoothly. Their support is great, and the pricing/ROI feels solid.
What do you dislike about the product?
Inadequate Reporting: I find Veeam ONE’s reporting somewhat limited when it comes to supporting more comprehensive Security Operations Center (SOC) needs.
File Level Restoration: Locating and restoring individual files from large backups can be complicated and takes more effort than I’d expect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Overall, it provides a complete recovery solution and is excellent for disaster recovery.

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing is that the tool is brand-agnostic. We can register any brand, and they keep developing new compatibilities for the ones that are about to hit the market.
Additionally, I like that the console has improved. It’s intuitive and easy for customers to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Today, I’m working with an HPE tool for virtualization. Veeam is developing the solution, but it isn’t something we can benefit from yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It focuses on backup security. Previously, in the event of a ransomware attack, backup files could become infected. Now we are working to protect these files so we can ensure the integrity of the backups and, in turn, provide a more stable and secure recovery.
Easy Deployment and Strong Reporting, but Hyper-V Integration Falls Short
What do you like best about the product?
Easy deployment process to onboard all required resources, multiple included management components make reporting and view of infrastructure effective return for investment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Integration with Microsoft Hyper-V is lacking compared to VMware offering, missing storage level integration for this means the best parts of Veeam cannot be fully utilised. Same is the same for the orchestration component.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Trust and faith that our data is backed up, and ready to restore when needed, allowing mobility to restore operations to any target infrastructure.
Advanced Backup Platform with a Feature-Rich, Polished UI
What do you like best about the product?
I’m a new user, and Veeam is probably the most advanced backup platform I’ve ever used. I really like the features and the UI in version 13, and overall it’s been a great experience so far. I’m definitely a Veeam user now.

Veeam has a very steep learning curve. It took me a while to understand what it was asking for and how to provide the right information so I could get the results I wanted from it.

The obvious benefit is protecting important company data, but it’s also a way for us to seamlessly integrate off-site, immutable storage.

Hardware failures, accidental deletions, ransomware attacks, and system crashes can all lead to critical data loss. How Veeam helps: it provides automated backups and secure storage for copies of your data. Benefit: you can quickly restore files, VMs, or applications and keep business-critical data from being lost.
