Retool
Internal AI monitoring has become faster and team productivity increases with custom dashboards
What is our primary use case?
We started using Retool last September, so it has been more than nine months now.
Our main use case for Retool is an internal operations dashboard built in Retool for our AI agents. Whenever we ship anything to production, we need to monitor it. Previously, we were using Sentry and other tools, but those are not effective when building AI applications. The QA review, pilot monitoring, and other monitoring needs require an internal dashboard so that we can actually monitor how our app is performing. Retool is useful in building those internal operations dashboards.
We are using Retool as an internal tool rather than a customer-facing tool.
What is most valuable?
Retool's best features include QA review, pilot monitoring, and the ability to build custom dashboards for AI data.
The features of QA review and pilot monitoring have made a difference for my team because we were building this in different tools, which were very time-consuming. Retool was helpful because it is very fast, and we can quickly build the dashboards. Compared to other solutions, the time is 30 to 50% shorter when we are building an internal tool using Retool.
Retool has positively impacted our organization by allowing us to move faster because we are not spending so much time building internal tools.
Regarding specific outcomes, previously, when we were building any internal dashboard, it usually took two to three weeks, but now it can be done in one week. We have seen a return on investment because we are building these internal dashboards 30 to 50% faster, so we are saving approximately 30 to 50% of an employee's time.
What needs improvement?
I do not have specifics on how Retool can be improved because we are using it for internal tool building only.
Regarding needed improvements, perhaps Retool can focus on not building customer-facing core products in their stack, as they can actually concentrate on building the back end and other components rather than customer-facing items.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working in my current field for eight years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We have never faced any downtime or issues.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Retool is scalable, and customer support has been satisfactory.
How are customer service and support?
It is very easy to learn and integrate within our database and infrastructure because we are already on Amazon Web Services, and our entire tech stack is on Amazon Web Services. We purchased it through the Amazon Web Services marketplace, so it was easy to integrate, and we never reached out to any customer support, as it is fairly straightforward.
I would rate the customer support an eight on a scale of one to ten.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We were building it in-house before choosing Retool; we were not using anything else prior. We have evaluated others as well, such as Sentry and others, and Retool stands out because of its AI capabilities.
How was the initial setup?
I purchased Retool through the AWS marketplace.
What about the implementation team?

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Retool is that it is straightforward but somewhat pricey compared to other industry leaders such as Sentry and others.
I feel it is an eight because it is for internal dashboards and tool building, specifically for when we are using it for QA review and pilot monitoring, among other tasks. There are other market players that promise similar features, which we have not tried, but Retool is somewhat pricey.
What other advice do I have?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Retool is that it is straightforward but somewhat pricey compared to other industry leaders such as Sentry and others.
We have evaluated others as well, such as Sentry and others, and Retool stands out because of its AI capabilities.

We use Retool's automation feature for QA review and pilot monitoring, and they are very helpful. Before, we were building these tools internally, which took three to four weeks for each pilot, but now we can build it in a day or a week maximum. Retool handles all the workflows we have right now; they are not ultra-complex workflows but are fairly complex, and I think Retool can adjust and handle complex workflows.
We have never faced any downtime or issues.
I would rate the customer support an eight on a scale of one to ten, and my advice for others looking into using Retool is to check your workflow before buying Retool. If your workflow is ultra-complex, you have to evaluate it very carefully. I would rate my overall experience with Retool an eight.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Retool Speeds Up Building Internal Tools and Dashboards
It cuts out a huge amount of boilerplate work—especially for admin panels, workflows, and integrations—so engineering teams can spend more time on business logic rather than rebuilding internal UIs from scratch.
When complex logic is spread across queries, components, and transformers, it can get messy over time, especially with larger teams working in the same app. Performance can also become a concern as apps get heavier, and debugging isn’t always as clear or straightforward as it would be in a traditional codebase.
For our team, that translates into building operational dashboards, admin panels, support tools, and internal workflows far faster than we could with a traditional frontend stack. It makes experimentation easier, cuts down on engineering overhead, and enables teams that aren’t directly product-facing to run day-to-day operations more efficiently.
