Fradulent billing. Unauthorized $$$ charges. Bonehead "support"

    Reviewed on Jul 18, 2026

What do you like best about the product?
Nothing. It used to be an okay service when it was created and managed by Citrix. Not anymore
What do you dislike about the product?
This company does not have any moral or ethical principles or any common sense at all.
It starts with me subscribing to the premium package at $85 per month on a monthly basis, month to month. I enter the credit card and get the access and start designing my company's branding.

The next thing is I receive an invoice for $936, which is the annual subscription, which I never subscribed to. I start communicating with their support and I'm shocked to discover that their support neither cares nor even understands what the problem is.
They all are sitting in Bangalore, India, where the time of people is worth zero. They say, "Well we reviewed your account and it looks like it was billed an annual subscription price." Well duh, I kind of know that but how did you dare to charge my card and issue a fraudulent invoice for an annual subscription when I only offered you $85 per month on a month-by-month basis?
Then I escalated to their Legal and Sales department and it takes them a long time to even understand what the problem is. After long exchanges that lead nowhere, what it ends up being is that the India-based support sends me an email that we refunded your $936 and we also canceled your account. I spent a tremendous amount of time creating the branding and the look and feel for my clients. A tremendous amount of time, tremendous investment, and this is all lost. No apologies, no compensation offered, nothing. I've never worked with a company that is supposedly a publicly traded company with such a extreme incompetence, no common sense, no decency, no ethics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is supposed to be solving the data room need but since they can't even onboard you, it's not benefiting me in any way, shape, or form.

It's a lot more than just cloud storage

    Reviewed on Jun 27, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I use Progress ShareFile because I need a secure way to manage file permissions, share documents with my team, and connect everything with some of the other systems we already use. At first, I thought it would just be another cloud storage platform, but it turns out it offers a lot more than I expected. One of the features I rely on the most is Data Rooms along with the advanced permission controls. We work on projects where different people need different levels of access, so it's reassuring to know exactly who can view, download, or edit each file. I also like the direction they've taken with document automation and approval workflows. Those features feel like a natural extension of the platform instead of something that was added just because every software company is trying to add more features.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I'd mention is the pricing. If you're actually using the security features, permission controls, document workflows, and everything else it offers, it's pretty easy to see where the money goes. But if all you need is somewhere to store files, there are definitely cheaper alternatives. For me, though, it's the extra features that make it worth paying for. They save us time, keep everything organized, and give us a lot more control over how we share documents.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Besides writing code, I also end up handling everything that comes with a project: installation guides, architecture diagrams, temporary credentials, technical documentation, handoff notes, and all the files the client or support team will eventually need. That's where ShareFile really earns its place in our workflow. We keep a dedicated folder for every project, and when it's time to hand everything over, I just share a single link instead of sending a bunch of attachments. The best part is that if I need to update a document or add something a few days later, I just upload it and keep going. Everything stays in one place, so there's never any confusion about where the latest version is. After working this way across several projects, it's become a natural part of how we work. Our team stays organized, clients always know where to find what they need, and we spend a lot less time dealing with documents and a lot more time focusing on the actual project. It's one of those improvements that doesn't seem like a big deal at first, but once you get used to it, you really don't want to work any other way.
