Seamless CAD Access Across Devices—No Bulky Laptop Needed
What do you like best about the product?
Love that I can access it across all my devices. It works perfectly for someone who doesn't want to be carrying around a bulky windows gaming laptop just to run CAD.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes there seems to be a backlog in the cloud that causes the system to freeze up. I have had times (very rare) where my files are unavailable to me because they wouldn't load.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We don't need to have expensive computers to run our CAD. Everyone can have their windows, mac, or android and use the software the same as everyone else.
CAD in the Cloud is Heavenly!
What do you like best about the product?
The most powerful feature of Onshape is its foundation in the cloud. Traditional CAD systems are tied to a single machine, creating a tangle of files and version control issues. With Onshape, that complexity is gone. My entire design history, from initial sketches to final assemblies, is all stored in one central, secure location. This allows my team and me to work on the same model simultaneously and in real time, just like editing a document in Google Docs. The days of sending large files back and forth, losing track of revisions, or accidentally overwriting someone else's work are finally over.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was some way to work offline, even in a limited format.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Version Control Nightmares: It's difficult to keep track of different versions of a design, and easy to accidentally lose or overwrite a teammate's work. Poor Collaboration: Teams can't work on the same model at the same time, forcing a slow, sequential workflow where large files are sent back and forth. Data Management Complexity: The system creates a "tangle of files" that is difficult to manage and secure.
Onshape eliminates these problems by centralizing all design data and allowing for real-time, simultaneous collaboration.

I use Onshape professionally and as a hobbyist
What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy that the program is web based, which has opened up many new opportunities not accessible by desktop only systems. This is especially evident when using both the mobile version to review remotely, while making most substantial edits on a desktop. Built in simulation on the pro version is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the rendering control when adding customs scenes is something I need to work on more use well. I also wish that there was more customization on the BOM control for the free version, but it can work as is out of the box. The pro version is much more useful, if you can figure out enough code to make it work with your organizational structure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I grew up in a world of printed blueprints and sketches, and now I work professionally in a virtual world to fill same role.
As an engineer and draftsperson, it allows me to be a working member in GDP by reviewing designs, building BOMS and providing drawings to contractors that build the physical world that we live in.

No time consuming updates, no installs, no hardware worries, no vault - awesome
What do you like best about the product?
Running a busy design department is hard enough without having to worry about CAD software and hardware. With onshape I can quickly add a new user to our company, they log in on pretty much anything and they're away. I don't have to schedule a week of downtime to update vaults and clients. It's always up to date and updates come every few weeks. It's rapidly catching up mainstream cad in features too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features are still missing but it's usually a case of just doing things slightly differently. Support helps you past it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's solving our need for pain free CAD administration.
Revolutionary ease of doing your business and getting things done.
What do you like best about the product?
They are CONSTANTLY developing the program and I share EVERYTHING to EVERY department with a single link. I am head of RnD in a boiler company. We manufacture every kind of tank there is. When I publish a design I send the same link to marketing, sales, manufacturing even the costumers. The marketing and sales guys get their 3d,tds and renderings and the rollers, punchers, welders, etc get their drawings. I don't have to send a bunch of pdf/dxf/steps/wetf emails and they don't have to install a "free" viewer where you have to give out your phone# and address.... I am talking to you SW! If you have a business it is a no brainer. It is build to look outward and provide people the info they need. It is a multitool.
What do you dislike about the product?
I cannot think of a real bummer to be honest, just minor things. It doesn't have an integrated animation tab yet (it would be nice if they integrated it with their renderings tab) and I cannot do holes in the flattened sheet metal YET.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communicate your design to everyone across multiple fields.
Handy system but so much more you can do
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to start using. Cloud system allows me to use in multiple devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Internet connection is, of course, the crucial thing you need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making the idea into shape!
Review: Onshape CAD Software
What do you like best about the product?
Onshape is a very good and efficient software for 3D design and modeling. One of its standout features is the Mate system used for assemblies—it's intuitive, clean, and makes the assembly process smooth and reliable.
The document-based interface is another strong point. Having all parts, assemblies, and drawings organized within a single document makes design management very easy and efficient. It also simplifies collaboration across teams, especially when multiple people are working on the same project.
Some additional highlights:
Cloud-based access means no installation and seamless work from anywhere.
Version control is excellent—every change is recorded, and it's easy to go back to previous versions.
Real-time collaboration is a huge plus, especially in a team environment.
Custom features and scripting through FeatureScript add a lot of flexibility for advanced users.
Overall, Onshape is a powerful and user-friendly CAD platform, especially well-suited for teams looking for modern, cloud-native design tools.

What do you dislike about the product?
Performance with Large Assemblies: It can get slow or laggy with very large assemblies or complex models.
Limited Offline Access: There is no real offline mode, which is a limitation in areas with unreliable internet.
Learning Curve for New Users: While the UI is clean, those coming from traditional software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD might need time to adjust.
Cost: The free version is good for hobbyists or education, but professional licenses can be expensive for smaller companies.

Excellent product, emerging CAD program for all
What do you like best about the product?
Collaboration tools, user friendliness, revision control, and assembly procedures. Customer support is fantastic (Yardayn over at customer success is an amazing resource), they are always quick to respond and resolve issues and it is easy to find help.
What do you dislike about the product?
As an enterprise user, collaboration with external contractors can be challenging when it comes to licenses and users, but they are actively adding usibility to this!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Inter-team collaboration; previously with Creo as a small company we struggled with file management between the team and OnShape has solved that tremendously. It is simple to add/subtract permissions for team members, and limit access where needed.
Great software and easy to get up and running
