It combined backup, recovery, data security, and cyber recovery in a single platform.

The steep learning curve and complex setup and configuration.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

The problem of Cyber Resilience: Commvault provides faster detection of attacks and confidence that data can be recovered.

What do you like best about the product?

I can replicate backup data to different locations with relative ease. I like being able to view all my protected resources in one pane, including file servers and VMs, instead of logging into another application to view them separately. The initial setup was pretty straightforward and not complicated.

What do you dislike about the product?

I find custom reporting challenging because I have to understand SQL data sets, queries, and table structure. That skill set isn’t typically found with the average Commvault engineer. The built-in reports offer some customization, but anything beyond that requires a deep understanding of SQL tables.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

I can replicate backup data to different locations with relative ease.

What do you like best about the product?

I appreciate that Commvault Cloud is easy to administer and use, and fast. It allows me to make reduced-size backups and then optimize these sizes to reduce cloud costs. I also appreciate the integrated aggregation and reduction technologies: object-type backups can reuse already recorded blocks, which reduces future backups, multiple backups, and space used. I can use different storage levels at different prices, create policies tailored to specific needs, and keep backups for over 10 years. Commvault Cloud also meets market standards in terms of security, performance, and storage cost control.

What do you dislike about the product?

I have no particular complaints about Commvault Cloud. However, I would like it to continue improving native support for storage arrays, rather than working at the VM level, as well as the speed of backups without hindering the use of VMs and the applications they host.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Commvault Cloud to manage different classes of cloud storage at different prices, define policies tailored to specific needs, and keep backups for over 10 years.

What do you like best about the product?

Our usage of Commvault Cloud—specifically version 11.42.80—has increased; previously, we handled almost everything via the Java console, but since this update, we perform many tasks directly within Commvault Cloud. Key advantages include daily backup reporting—which helps us meet our client's requirement for weekly reports—and the ability to clearly see what succeeded and what didn't. Within these reports, we utilize the "Calendar Job Summary" to view daily job execution by system; this allows us to identify failures without impacting business operations or onboarding processes, while also simplifying support and dashboard management.

What do you dislike about the product?

They release a lot of patches that fail to pass validation, which ends up impacting operations; although they are simple to install, something unexpected always comes up, forcing us to open a support case. In the version we use, we identified a bug involving AIX 7.2 and Oracle RAC. Another thing we dislike is that support is very disconnected—there is no one to coordinate or link the various issues together; they view things in silos, and we aren't entirely happy with that approach.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

With the new version, we achieved integration with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and successfully integrated backups for OpenShift; the client is very pleased with this achievement—being able to back up the system after having been unable to do so for over a year with a different platform.

What do you like best about the product?

Easy to navigate user interface, good structure with useful information. Excellent customer support.

What do you dislike about the product?

The ongoing price is quite high and difficult to justify to the management. Some of the reporting can be improved to meet customer's requirements.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Its immutable backup serves as one of our key strategies in ransomware attack scenario.

What do you like best about the product?

This has been my best experience with agent-based backups compared to other backup systems. It offers a lot of control while still being easy to use, for example when backing up databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL. I’ve also seen a very good deduplication ratio and high backup/copy performance. The integration with mixed and archive tiers of Cloud Storage (like OCI Archive Storage) is another plus. Support has been helpful as well.

What do you dislike about the product?

Expensive licensing, especially for workloads like M365. There are also some inconsistencies between the CommCell Console and Command Center. Command Center lacks some of the functionality that is available in the CommCell Console.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Maintaining business continuity while handling day-to-day administrative issues.

What do you like best about the product?

Easy to handle and reliable in ongoing operation.

What do you dislike about the product?

Permission management could be clearer.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Simple and straightforward backup of M365 data for us and our customers.

What do you like best about the product?

It supports multiple platforms, specifically IBM Power Systems.

The user interface feels more complicated than I expected, and it takes some time to adapt to it.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

I can use Commvault to back up an SAP HANA database on IBM Power Systems.

What do you like best about the product?

From an infrastructure operations perspective, Commvault Cloud simplifies enterprise data protection by providing backup management, policies, granular recovery options, and comprehensive reporting. It scales well for large environments and helps to reducing the administrative effort required to manage backups across physical, virtual, and cloud infrastructure

What do you dislike about the product?

1) learning curve,
2) complex licensing and higher side costing
3) difficulty in troubleshooting advanced issues.
4) The platform is powerful, but it can be overwhelming for new users
5) some administrative tasks could be simplified to improve the overall user experience.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

In our enterprise environment, Commvault Cloud provides centralized protection for Hyper-V virtual machines, Windows/Linux servers, and cloud workloads. It has simplified backup operations through policy, improved recovery times, enhanced protection, and provided better visibility through reporting and monitoring. As a result, we've reduced operational overhead, improved recovery readiness, and increased confidence in meeting our backup and disaster recovery objectives

What do you like best about the product?

Single dashboard management for both onprem and cloud also easily integrated with the multiple application. Also have good performance on the backup window

What do you dislike about the product?

The pricing model needs to be better. Veeam has the VUL option, which I find more flexible. Commvault Cloud would be a better option.

Multiple workloads can be managed from a single dashboard, which makes it easier to stay organized and work more efficiently.
