Integration workflows have become automated and support reliable healthcare data exchange
What is our primary use case?
Recently, I built an interface using Rhapsody EMPI, specifically an ADT interface, which includes admit, discharge, and transfer for one of our EHR systems.
Rhapsody EMPI helped me with that process as this tool was very helpful for me because it enabled me to create automation and act as both a receiver and a sender. We created multiple transformers, including JavaScript transformers, to write additional logic that built the connection and ensured the interface worked as expected.
Rhapsody EMPI is entirely utilized for interoperability.
How has it helped my organization?
What is most valuable?
These starter features have helped my integration work because most hospital EHR systems support HL7 messages and some support APIs, for example FHIR, allowing us to reach more clients using this.
Automation and the built-in autopilot AI are features I would highlight, which help us automate tasks. Instead of writing logic myself, I use the AI to assist in writing logic and conduct code reviews.
What needs improvement?
The needed improvements include automation not being one hundred percent complete; although it helps us a lot, it sometimes requires manual intervention for edge cases.
Other improvements needed for Rhapsody EMPI include the initial configuration complexity and the requirement for manual intervention in some cases; everything else is good.
For how long have I used the solution?
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
How are customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
How was the initial setup?
What was our ROI?
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
What other advice do I have?
Regarding Rhapsody EMPI's AI capabilities, I am not sure about governance and security, but I believe if they use AI, it must be HIPAA compliant.
I find Rhapsody EMPI's accuracy and reliability of output to be not entirely dependable, but I would say it is pretty reliable, so you do not have to worry about it.
We have deployed Rhapsody EMPI on-premises as well as on a private cloud.
For private cloud deployment, we used Azure, GCP, and AWS.
My advice for others looking into using Rhapsody EMPI is that if your work is based on interoperability and integration with different healthcare standards, this is the best tool in the market right now to use and scale with.
