Its simplicity and automation. It makes backup, recovery, and ransomware protection easy to manage through a modern interface, reducing operational effort while ensuring reliable data protection.

The main drawback is that it can be expensive, especially for smaller organizations. Some advanced features also have a learning curve and may require additional training to use effectively.

Rubrik has honestly made managing backups so much less stressful. I used to spend a lot of time manually checking on things — now the policies just run on their own and I get alerted only when something actually needs my attention.

The best part for me was when I had to recover a database quickly what I expected to take hours was done in minutes using Live Mount. That one moment sold me on it completely.

It also does a good job flagging unusual activity which I didn't expect from a backup tool feels more like a security layer too. Reporting is clean and saves me a lot of back and forth during audits.

What do you dislike about the product?

The one thing that takes some getting used to is the initial setup and configuration it's not something you can just figure out on the fly. When we first deployed it, we needed quite a bit of support to get policies structured the right way for our environment. A more guided onboarding experience would have saved us a few back-and-forth sessions with their team.

The pricing is also not the most straightforward it took a few conversations to fully understand what was included in our licensing and what would cost extra. More transparency upfront would help a lot.

Occasionally the UI can feel a bit slow when loading larger environments, nothing critical but noticeable when you're trying to move quickly.

These aren't dealbreakers by any means, but smoother onboarding and clearer pricing would make the overall experience much better.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before Rubrik, our biggest headache was not having full confidence in our backups. We'd run jobs, assume they worked, and only find out something failed when we actually needed to recover something — which is the worst possible time to find out.

We also struggled with the time it took to manage everything. Checking backup statuses, fixing missed jobs, generating reports for audits — it was eating up hours every week that could've been spent elsewhere.

After moving to Rubrik, that changed pretty quickly. Backup failures now get flagged immediately so we're never caught off guard. Recovery times dropped significantly — what used to take hours now takes minutes in most cases. And audit reporting that used to require manually pulling data from different places now takes just a few clicks.

The biggest benefit honestly is peace of mind. Knowing our data is protected, recoverable, and monitored without us having to babysit it daily has freed up our team to focus on other priorities. It's one of those tools where you feel the difference pretty fast after switching.

I like Rubrik because it is easy to use and offers fast backup and recovery. I also appreciate the cloud integration and disaster recovery features, which allow it to work with major cloud platforms for backup. The ability to replicate backup to other locations adds another layer of security and convenience. Additionally, I find the reporting and monitoring capabilities valuable. One of the standout features for me is the reduction in storage consumption by eliminating duplicate data. As of my knowledge, everything with Rubrik is good.

Honestly, the UI/UX is what caught our attention first. We moved off a legacy product that still relied on a clunky, outdated console. Rubrik is modern, web-based, and incredibly intuitive. You don't need a 40-hour training course to figure out how to restore a file or set up an SLA domain.

What do you dislike about the product?

Pricing is the elephant in the room. It’s absolutely a premium enterprise product, and the initial cost can be a tough pill to swallow during budget season. If you are a smaller SMB, it might be hard to justify the spend.

Also, while the dashboard is great, if you need highly granular, custom audit reports for compliance, the native reporting can feel a bit basic. We sometimes have to lean on their API and script it out to get the exact data cuts our auditors want.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest problem it solved was the sheer amount of time wasted babysitting backup schedules. The ROI for us isn't just in storage efficiency; it's entirely in recovered engineering hours. My team used to spend 2-3 hours every single morning fixing failed jobs and checking tape chains. Because Rubrik is policy-driven, we just assign an SLA to a cluster and walk away. Checking backups now takes 5 minutes over coffee.

I liked the user intelligence and data observation tools in Rubrik, which I mostly use for research and reading patterns. It was easy to set up.
