Secure, Self-Hostable Video Conferencing with Room for Growth

  • May 13, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I value most about Jitsi is the complete infrastructure control paired with robust privacy and open-source flexibility — it aligns perfectly with our engineering protocols and strict GDPR standards at Celonis SE. The biggest advantage is being able to self-host entirely on our own AWS and Kubernetes stack. All meeting traffic, session data, and recordings stay within our EU-based environment, with zero third-party exposure. As a German enterprise tech company, this completely eliminates GDPR and data residency concerns, something mainstream commercial conferencing tools can’t match without complex, costly enterprise agreements. I also love that it’s fully browser-native. There’s no mandatory app download or forced account creation. Team members, remote engineers, and external contractors can join any meeting just by clicking a link. It cuts down on onboarding friction and works flawlessly for quick code reviews, ad-hoc technical syncs, and architecture discussions. On top of that, Jitsi has no per-user licensing fees. It lets us scale video collaboration across our large engineering team effortlessly, with no extra overhead or recurring costs.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Jitsi excels at privacy and self-hosting, it still has noticeable drawbacks for enterprise daily use. First, native enterprise integrations are extremely limited. It doesn’t connect seamlessly with our core workflow tools like Jira, Confluence, or our internal SSO platform. We can’t auto-sync meeting calendars or link meeting notes directly to project tasks, so all scheduling and documentation has to be done manually. Second, scalability for larger meetings needs heavy manual tuning. Small team syncs run smoothly, but once participant count hits 40 to 50+, our DevOps team has to manually adjust bridge settings and Kubernetes resource allocation. There’s no reliable out-of-the-box auto-scaling, which adds extra engineering workload for large technical workshops and cross-company sessions. Third, its API and workflow automation capabilities are fairly basic. The existing APIs work for simple use cases, but they lack advanced webhook triggers and flexible endpoints to automate routine tasks like bulk room creation, permission management, or log exporting. This forces us to build custom workaround scripts to fit our internal pipelines.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Jitsi primarily for private internal video meetings and technical discussions. By self-hosting on our AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure, it fully solves our GDPR and cross-border data residency challenges. All sensitive meeting data remains internal to our controlled environment, lowering compliance risks significantly and simplifying internal security audits.

Easy to Use Without Downloading an App

  • April 30, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Anyone can use it without even downloading an app
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI isn't as intuitive as MS Teams or Zoom
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Better audio transmission and the recording feature have made a real difference for me. I’m in frequent meetings, and audio troubles used to happen far more often than they do now. The integration allows for AI note taking too, which is a plus.

Easy to Use with Great Features but Needs Better Stability

  • April 28, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Jitsi for video conferencing because it's easy to use with zero friction entry. There are a lot of good features available directly in the application, such as recording via Dropbox and live streaming to YouTube, which make things easy for me without needing to set up separate environments or do tasks separately. The setup for Jitsi was also pretty easy, making it convenient to onboard.
What do you dislike about the product?
You can improve upon the stability especially when there are large groups in the meeting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jitsi is easy to use with zero friction entry. It offers many features, like Dropbox recording and YouTube streaming, making tasks straightforward without setting up separate environments.

Efficient SFU Videobridge Back

  • April 23, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The backbone of Jitsi is the Jitsi Videobridg. Unlike older systems that mix all video into one stream , Jitsi uses a Selective Forwarding Unit. It simply routes everyone's video to everyone else without "transcoding" it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unlike Zoom or Google Meet, where recording is a simple API toggle, Jitsi requires a separate component called Jibri.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Unlike Agora or Twilio, where a successful app can lead to a $10,000/month bill, Jitsi costs you only what you pay for your Linux servers.

Versatile Communication Tool with Minor Connectivity Glitches

  • April 21, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like Jitsi's chat feature, which allows for easy side messaging for links, notes, or quick comments without interrupting the speaker. I also appreciate its file sharing and screen share capabilities. Jitsi's open-source nature and the ability to self-host solve privacy concerns associated with other platforms, and the initial setup was straightforward and easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Video/audio isn’t always as crisp as competitors. Can be a bit glitchy or laggy sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Jitsi for online communication with my team and clients. It provides easy side messaging for links or notes without interrupting the speaker, along with file sharing and screen sharing to enhance communication.

Easy to Join Meetings, But Self-Hosting Setup Requires Serious IT Effort

  • April 17, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You don’t need to create an account or force participants to download specialized software in order to join a meeting.
What do you dislike about the product?
Deploying Jitsi on your own server isn't quite plug-and-play. Getting the architecture running reliably—especially configuring firewalls, network settings, and extra components like Jibri (the tool required for recording meetings)—requires a solid IT background.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A private platform that makes me feel in control. it ensures that sensitive data stays entirely on the user's servers, completely blocking third-party access
