A must have software for designing PCB boards

  • April 23, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- It is a very powerful software for designing PCB circuit boards.
- It is a very user-friendly software, and easy to find out its features, and work with.
- It has a portable version, which you can carry in your USB drive, and use it anywhere else that you have not installed the whole software.
- The software includes a lot of ICs footprints and includes a lot of libraries for various vendors' ICs and boards. So it is easy to find the ICs that you use on your PCB board and add it easily to your design.
- The user can add some specific footprints or plans manually as libraries to the software.
What do you dislike about the product?
- It is not free, needs a license.
- The huge space of PC is needed for the software since it includes a lot of embedded libraries and footprints from various vendors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am very satisfied using Altium designer for designing PCB boards. After designing, I send the plans to a company to print that out for me. During using this software, I have never faced any bug or special issue that I especially think of.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I definitely recommend this software for circuit board designers and manufacturing companies. It is very easy to use and does not have any bugs or special issues.
The only issue is that it needs a license and the user or the company needs to pay for it.

Altium Review

  • January 23, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy the easiness and the different tools that Altium provides. I love its autoroute features especially for simple designs. It flawlessly routes all my wires and does it so well that if I were to route it, it would only benefit me slightly. Also is very easy to import different libraries so I can design different circuits with different parts and footprints
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that some tools are very hidden and that the design rules can be annoying to change. Difficult to also do copper masks
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating printed circuit boards for business purpose as well as personal designs

Altium Designer Review

  • January 22, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The one thing I like about Altium is the user-friendliness of it compared to other similar softwares like Allegro PCB Editor. It grants you full control over the different components and features of your PCB board and you can virtually do anything with the new added features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite being often helpful, many of the features can add to the complexity of the menu tabs and in addition to that, the huge volume of hard disk space needed for the software makes it use a significant portion of the RAM, often slowing down the whole system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Altium to design and prepare printed circuit boards for various purposes, such as wireless communication systems, computer interfacing systems, and biomedical circuits.
