    Overview

For more than three decades, Altium software has helped electrical engineers design superior printed circuit boards. Based on that expertise, we built the Altium Develop cloud solution that enables cross-functional teams to work as one. It replaces disjointed electronics development workflows with shared data and shared context in a single, connected cloud environment. Instead of relying on meetings, emails, and exported files to stay aligned, now design, engineering, procurement colleagues have real-time visibility into each other's work. This reduces the need for manual coordination, eliminates costly handoff errors, and accelerates product velocity. This is how Altium Develop enables a fundamentally better way to collaborate on electronics development-by moving beyond coordination to true co-creation. Electrical, mechanical, software, and software engineers understand requirements and visualize them in their work. Sourcing teams purchase parts with contextual visibility into both the intent for the vehicle, satellite, medical device, or other type of product that the team's building and also the supply chain for availability, price, and lifespan of components. This unified workflow swaps delays and misalignment that teams see as normal for speed, clarity, and collaboration-even for complex products. What changes with Altium Develop? Design reviews happen instantly within the design environment, with feedback from every stakeholder - no meetings or file packaging required. Engineers, sourcing, firmware, mechanical, and compliance teams make decisions together, with shared data and live visibility into component availability, fit, and regulatory needs. Every decision and change is captured in a central digital thread, streamlining compliance reporting and accelerating process improvement.

    Highlights

    • Continuous Insight: Every change, comment, and decision lives in a real-time context, giving you and your collaborators the visibility to stay aligned - without the need for formal check-ins. Insight flows as work happens, so you're always informed to make your best decisions.
    • Co-Creation Without Constraints: Altium Develop enables true multidisciplinary co-creation, not by enforcing structure, but by enabling freedom. Electrical, mechanical, software, sourcing - every discipline connects in a shared environment where data, context, and purpose are aligned.
    • The Peer-Powered Network: Build on a peer-powered network that gives you the freedom to bring the right people into the process - whenever, wherever, and however you need them. Freedom and flexibility converge, anchored by shared purpose, delivering limitless power to create.

    Great Features but Frustrating Usability

    Reviewed on May 07, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the integration of MCAD with ECAD and find the software to be robust with lots of functionality. I like that Git diff finally works.
What do you dislike about the product?
Everything is cloud based, which means more manipulations. The seat assignments are atrocious; I always have to restart to refresh the seat availability. The initial setup wasn't great because I lost some beta features I was testing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Altium Develop for integrating MCAD with ECAD, and I find it to be robust with lots of functionalities. The Git diff feature finally works well.

Intuitive for PCB Design, Needs Better Simulation

    Reviewed on May 07, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I find Altium Develop easy to use, which is a big plus for me. Most of the built-in tools work well, and the initial setup was very easy for my team. I've been using Altium for more than 15 years, and it's a reliable tool for the rest of the design process after simulation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Altium Develop's simulation isn't good, so I use LTspice instead. Major built-in tools work fine, but there are some bugs I'd like fixed. In the Layer Stack Up Manager, only 4 colors are available for selection and they can't be customized. Some commands, like Total_Thickness, don't work well as it shows rounded up numbers without decimals. The wire harness design is not good at all and lacks support for required details.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Altium Develop for design tasks from A to Z after simulation, as it manages PCB layouts and BOM effectively, and it's easy to use.
