Being registered within the APN provides you opportunities to learn more about AWS and the APN Partner Programs we offer. This is only the first step of your journey, and we recommend you check out the steps to advance to the Standard tier.  

Partner_Network_Tiers-Registered

At Registered Tier, you have access to: 

  1. Read top APN Portal content including: The APN Program Guide, APN Partner Learning Plan, Building Blocks for the Development Essential AWS Technical Skills, and How to Build Your Business on AWS.
  2. Explore AWS Quick Starts to learn the AWS best practices for security and high availability for deploying on AWS.
  3. Complete APN Partner Training to meet the requirements to advance to the Standard tier.

Accreditations provide an important baseline knowledge of AWS so that as you work with customers, you can feel confident in your knowledge of the value of AWS.

To qualify for the Standard Tier, two AWS Business Professional Accreditation and two AWS Technical Professional Accreditations are required. These courses are only 5 hours each, and can be accessed through the Training tab on the APN Portal.

Once completed, we recommend that you continue on the learning path for either Business Professional or Technical Professional to continue to grow in your expertise of AWS.

Earning your AWS Certification helps you demonstrate your deep technical skills and expertise to design, deploy, and operate applications and infrastructure on AWS. AWS Certification is a industry-recognized credential, and shows customers, employers, and recruiters that you have the skills and knowledge to build AWS solutions.

Two Associate level Certifications are required for your firm to qualify for the Standard tier. We offer Certifications across technical roles and levels of proficiency.

Certification exams are 80 minutes in length and can be scheduled through the APN Portal. Visit the AWS Certification page to learn more.

The AWS Business Builder provides a portfolio of go-to-market resources to help software companies of all sizes connect with customers and grow their businesses. Utilize the build resources to leverage the AWS Partner Network to build your software business globally. You can then expand your reach and generate more qualified leads with our Marketing Programs. Finally, the business builder has programs to help you accelerate customer time to value.

Once you have completed a number of trainings and have grown in your knowledge of AWS, you can start building your customer base and influencing your AWS Billings. To demonstrate that you're building an AWS-based business, you must receive $1,000 average over a three month period from AWS specific customers (direct or influenced) to qualify for the Standard tier.

Once you have made a meaningful impact for your AWS customers, start building your customer reference base. It is very important that you establish credibility with your customers, and with AWS, and demonstrate that you have a strong AWS-based practice that past and current customers would recommend to other prospects.
 

Developer+ Level Support offers resources for customers and APN Partners testing or doing early development on AWS, as well as any customers or APN Partners who: 

  • Want access to guidance and technical support 
  • Are exploring how to quickly put AWS to work 
  • Use AWS for non-production workloads or applications

To apply, log into the APN Portal, go to your Partner Scorecard, and click “Apply for Upgrade”, found at the top of the page. AWS Channel Reseller Program: This program enables qualified APN Partners to resell AWS services to both commercial and public sector end customers. 

AWS Test Drive Program: Test Drive enables APN Partners to automate deployment of solutions on AWS using AWS CloudFormation.

AWS Service Delivery Program: This program highlights APN Partners with a track record of delivering specific AWS services to customers.

AWS Public Sector Partner Program: The Public Sector Program enables public sector partners to accelerate their business growth on AWS through alignment with our public sector teams.

Proof-of-Concepts: At the Standard tier, APN Partners become eligible for the AWS Proof of Concept (POC) Program, which is designed to facilitate and help accelerate AWS customer projects.

Innovation Sandbox: This benefit extends AWS Promotional Credits towards the development of new offerings on AWS and affords you the ability offer Free Trials for customers.

Access to APN Marketing Central: APN Marketing Central provides a wealth of marketing tools and resources that enable APN Partners to generate demand for your services and solutions on AWS.

Use of APN Logo: Once an APN Partner reaches the Standard tier, they gain access to an official APN logo, to use on marketing collateral. Having an APN Logo demonstrates that you are a higher tier APN Partner.  

Company Profile in the Partner Solutions Finder: At the Standard tier, APN Partners are able to create an Partner Solutions Finder listing. The Partner Solutions Finder is one of the most effective ways for an APN Partner to surface to prospective customers.

Becoming a Standard tier APN Partner opens up a number of marketing opportunities you can take advantage of to help you grow your customer base on AWS. You also gain official recognition as an APN Partner through the ability to list your firm in the Partner Solutions Finder, and through your access to an official APN logo. But don't stop here. 

While at the Standard tier, we recommend that you focus on how you can continue to differentiate your firm on AWS, build a deep bench of AWS Trained & Certified employees, and move up to the Advanced and Premier tiers.

Partner_Network_Tiers-Standard

At Standard Tier, you have access to: 

  1. Upload your company information via the Partner Portal to be showcased on the Partner Solutions Finder
  2. Leverage the AWS Business Builder to expand your AWS-based business
  3. Start Marketing yourself as an APN Partner with APN Marketing Central.

For Advanced tier, eight AWS Business Professional Accreditation and eight AWS Technical Professional Accreditations are required. APN Partners looking to continue to Advanced tier are required to also take four TCO and Cloud Economics Accreditations.

Once completed, we recommend that these employees continue the learning path for either Business Professional or Technical Professional to better assist customers.

To qualify for the Advanced tier, you must meet a higher minimum direct and influenced AWS billings average than at the Standard tier. Advanced tier APN Partners are required to achieve a $50,000 minimum direct and/or influenced AWS revenue average over a three-month period.

To increase your AWS direct and influenced revenue, we recommend that you participate in the programs and marketing opportunities available to you at the Standard tier. Doing so will increase your exposure to AWS Customers, and will provide you with more opportunities to grow your AWS-based business.

 

 

Utilizing existing customer references is one of the most effective ways to reach new customers, and to demonstrate your success on AWS to AWS teams. As you continue to build a successful AWS-based business, be proactive about reaching out to your existing customers who you feel are strong references for your firm. Examples of references you can pursue include a testimonial for your website, a formal case study, a speaking opportunity at an event, or a customer profile for your blog.

The Business+ Level Support plan offers resources for customers running production workloads on AWS as well as any customer or APN Partner who:

  • Run one or more applications in production environments
  • Have multiple services activated, or use key services extensively
  • Depend on their business solutions to be available, scalable, and secure

The Business+ Level Support plan includes Trusted Advisor full checks, infrastructure event management, architecture support, AWS support API, and more.

You can upgrade to Business+ Level Support on this page, and it will be reflected in your AWS Account and in the APN Portal.

AWS Managed Service Program: This program is designed for partners who are skilled at cloud infrastructure and application migraiton, and deliver value to customers by offering proactive monitoring, automation, and management of their customer's environment.

APN Competency Program: The AWS Competency Program is designed to highlight APN Partners who have demonstrated technical proficiency and proven customer success in specialized solution areas, verticals, and use cases.

At the Advanced tier, you become eligible for a number of additional funding benefits, including additional POC funding. You also become eligible for MDF funding:

Marketing Development Funds (MDF) Program: This program is designed to enable demand generation and go-to-market (GTM) activities for your firm.

Priority Listing in the Partner Solutions Finder: At the Advanced tier, you are given priority listing (just below Premier tier APN Partners) in the Partner Solutions Finder, increasing your firm's visibility to prospective customers.

Specific APN Logos Recognizing Advanced Tier Status: As an Advanced APN Partner, you have access to specific APN logos which recognize your status.

Dedicated Partner Development Manager: Once you reach the Advanced tier, you will gain access to a named Partner Development Manager to help you continue to achieve your goals on AWS.

By becoming an Advanced tier APN Partner, you demonstrate that you have built a strong AWS-based business. But don't stop here. Continue to differentiate your firm to AWS customers, and build a robust go-to-market strategy with AWS. We recommend you continue to invest in AWS Training & Certification, to demonstrate your deep expertise to customers. Establish your firm’s thought leadership through event sponsorship, blogging, social media, presentations, and whitepapers. Join programs that will help you further define your niche on AWS, such as the AWS Competency Program.

Partner_Network_Tiers-Advanced

At Advanced Tier, you have access to: 

  1. Upload your new APN Logo to your website.
  2. Apply for AWS Competencies and/or the Managed Service Program.
  3. Take advantage of our Go-To-Market Activities.

To qualify for the Premier tier, 20 AWS Business Professional Accreditation, 20 AWS Technical Professional Accreditations, and eight AWS TCO & Cloud Economics Accreditations are required. These courses are only 5 hours each, and can be accessed through the Training tab on the APN Portal.

Why do we require this number of Accreditations? We believe that the more individuals who are trained within your organization, the better suited you'll be to deeply engage with AWS customers, and understand their needs.

Twenty Associate Level Certifications and 8 Professional Level Certifications are required to qualify for the Premier tier, to ensure that our top Consulting Partners are providing customers with deep technical expertise. We offer Certifications across technical roles and levels of proficiency.

If you have a presence in multiple regions around the globe and are looking to become recognized as a Premier tier APN Partner in multiple regions, you must reach certain revenue requirements per region, which vary region-to-region. Once you get to this stage, discuss these requirements with your Partner Development Manager.

To qualify for the Premier tier, we require your firm to demonstrate 10 customer references on AWS within the past 12 months, to ensure that your firm is consistently delivering high value to customers.

 

One of the requirements for the Premier tier is that your firm become an audited Managed Service Provider and/or a DevOps Competency Partner. This requirement is intended to help you demonstrate to customers your expertise in delivering deep value-added services on AWS.

Managed Service Program: Designed for Consulting Partners who are skilled at cloud infrastructure and application migration, and deliver value to customers by offering proactive monitoring, automation, and management of their customer’s environment.

DevOps Competency Program: Designed for Consulting Partners who have deep experience working with businesses to help them implement continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.

To qualify for the Premier tier, you must demonstrate your long-term investment being an APN Partner by being at the Advanced tier for at least one year, and investing in staff dedicated to managing your AWS relationship. The Premier tier requires you have a dedicated Partner Alliance Manager and a dedicated Project Manager on staff.  

Additionally, you must develop a comprehensive AWS Partner Practice Plan. As an Advanced and Premier tier APN Partner, you can download a practice plan template via the APN Portal.

It's important that you demonstrate strong delivery capabilities across the designated countries or regions with which you'd like to become a Premier partner.

You must also adhere to AWS Security Best Practices for all AWS accounts you manage.

Security Best Practices include:

  • Account Root Credentials: Must have multifactor authentication on the root account credentials. Must also delete and disable all root API keys.
  • AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM): Must use IAM for user access. Must enable the IAM Password policy minimum of 8-character password. Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for privileged IAM
  • Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC): Must use AWS VPC on all accounts.
  • AWS CloudTrail: Must be enabled in all accounts.
  • Restricted Administrative Access: Security groups for administrative access via RDP or SSH must be restricted to the client’s corporate network and not open to the internet, such as ports 22 and 3389.

If not, keep checking off everything you need to get to the Premier tier. For some APN Partners, advancing to the Premier tier may not be your end goal. At the Premier tier, you have proven that you’ve invested significantly in your AWS practice, have extensive experience in deploying customer solutions on AWS, have a strong bench of AWS Trained & Certified technical consultants, have at least one AWS Competency, have deep expertise in project management, and have a healthy, consistent revenue-generating consulting business on AWS.

You open up a wealth of opportunities for your firm by qualifying for the Premier tier.

 

AWS Professional Services Bootcamp Training: This bootcamp training is designed to enable you to develop and extend AWS Professional Services competencies for AWS customer implementations. This intensive 3-day bootcamp mixes strategy and 'delivery how-to' derived from our own customer implementation and migration projects.

AWS Professional Services Supercharge: Professional Services Supercharge provides you with additional skills and expertise to help you as you serve customers. Our Professional Services team works with you to strength your AWS skills and work on specific projects, so that you can have a greater impact for your customers.

Eligibility for Integrated Partner Campaigns: These comprehensive multi-touch integrated demand generation campaigns provide an opportunity for you to co-brand digital marketing assets, social media, webinars, and outbound calling to generate more qualified opportunities for your firm. Note that you must hold an AWS Competency to be eligible for this program.
