Centralizing Global Data across Channels

Multigenerational luxury lifestyle brand ISAIA sells made-to-order and ready-to-wear clothing in over ten countries. Previously, the brand managed its global business using an on-premises system that was slow and prone to outages and that could not scale. Seeking a scalable, highly available way to centralize its global data, ISAIA turned to Amazon Web Services (AWS) Retail Competency Partner XY Retail. Using XY Retail’s omnichannel platform, ISAIA enhanced its in-store and remote shopping experiences and significantly reduced manual labor through automation.

Searching for an Open Retail Platform

Founded in 1920, ISAIA is based in Naples and operates over 25 retail stores globally. To manage its business across sales channels and support its rapid growth, the brand required an open, scalable, and flexible retail solution. “The moment we had the opportunity to either renew or discontinue our previous system, we walked away,” says Jay Chen, Senior Director of Sales and Operations at ISAIA. “We wanted a solution where any employee in any country could access the same data at the same time.”

In retail, different channels are often siloed, complicating the sales process and hurting the customer and associate experience.” For example, online orders for in-store fulfillment require store employees to see order, customer, and inventory data in real time. If employees must sign in to four different systems for ecommerce, POS, inventory, and shipping, their time is taken away from more valuable tasks, such as developing relationships with customers. Wanting to centralize its data, ISAIA quickly realized that XY Retail’s solution would meet its business needs. “When I saw XY Retail’s product, I was impressed,” says Chen. “Its features were way more advanced than those of the other corporate solutions that we considered.”

Driving Business Growth Using Scalable Solutions

XY Retail’s solution is cloud-native and API-driven, and it relies on multiple AWS services to deliver 99.999 percent availability and quickly process global transactions. The solution is completely omnichannel and provides visibility across all of ISAIA’s systems. XY Retail uses Amazon DynamoDB—a fully managed, serverless, key-value NoSQL database designed to run high-performance applications at any scale—as its data backbone, choosing the solution for its fully managed architecture as well as its scalability, availability, and reliability.

XY Retail uses Amazon DynamoDB along with Amazon CloudFront—a content delivery network service built for high performance, security, and developer convenience—to facilitate seamless access to data across ISAIA’s global operations quickly, helping ISAIA improve the speed of critical processes. For example, ISAIA has reduced its time to process sales and returns from three minutes to less than one second. XY Retail also uses Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), which provides secure, resizable compute capacity in the cloud, to facilitate real-time data access across ISAIA’s global operations.

XY Retail’s platform includes mobile clienteling capabilities, which empower sales associates to boost stores’ foot traffic and improve sell-through rates. Through the POS system, associates can curate unique in-store and remote experiences using an advanced recommendation engine, real-time customer omnichannel purchase history, and cross-store stock visibility to meet each customer’s individual needs, regardless of channel. “Having clienteling built into the POS system is super exciting,” says Chen. “We can carefully curate each sales experience so that it feels very elegant.” ISAIA can also assign customer segments to different associates, who can develop targeted sales campaigns based on individual customer profiles, driving sales opportunities.

Facilitating Growth through Automation

XY Retail’s solution automates key processes for ISAIA, including omnichannel order orchestration, collection onboarding, markdown processes, and tax reporting. By reducing manual labor through automation, ISAIA has significantly streamlined its business. For example, the solution automatically allocates orders from any sales channel to retail stores for fulfillment with notifications, improving online order fulfillment speeds by 300 percent. The order orchestrator uses ISAIA’s real-time, cross-store inventory visibility capabilities to allocate orders with a rules-based engine that can be deployed to new sales channels and new fulfillment centers within minutes. ISAIA can automatically deploy new collections to its store POS, ecommerce, and shop-in-shop locations with little intervention required by its team. XY Retail’s solution manages the product images, marketing attributes, price lists, inventory availability, and other key features, helping the brand release new collections seamlessly.

As a global business, ISAIA reports taxes to multiple government agencies.
