Emory University shrinks its time to science using Amazon Web Services (AWS) by providing faculty and students with modern, compliant tools that allow them to perform research quickly and securely. Founded in 1836, Emory University is a private research university located in Atlanta, Georgia with around 18,000 students, 3,000 faculty members, and 36,000 employees. Emory University uses Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), AWS Lambda, and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) to conduct research. For example, a recent genomics grant required 200 Amazon EC2 instances to be spun up, and researchers were able to complete their work in a matter of days.
