Stable enterprise Linux with strong support

    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The professional support, up-to-date kernel, and overall stability make SLES a solid choice for production systems. Having a recent kernel boosts performance a lot.
What do you dislike about the product?
The package ecosystem is smaller than on other distros, and some third‑party solutions don’t provide native support for it, which can add extra steps.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are running SAP along with more "standard" workloads, including PHP and Java open source projects from GitHub. The stability and vendor backing let us focus on development instead of troubleshooting the platform.

The Complete Enterprise Linux: Cloud-Ready, High-Performance, and Fully Supported

    Reviewed on Sep 16, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is how easy it is to use and implement, even in complex enterprise environments. The YaST tool simplifies administration and configuration, saving time for daily operations. I work with SLES everyday for running business-critical applications like SAP, and it consistently delivers stability and performance. The platform comes with a rich set of enterprise-grade features while still allowing smooth integration with cloud, container, and hybrid environments. Another big plus is the excellent customer support and clear documentation, which ensures issues are resolved quickly and confidently. Overall, SLES offers the perfect balance of usability, functionality, and reliability for enterprise workloads.
What do you dislike about the product?
While SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is very reliable, some areas could be improved. Certain configurations can feel complex for new users, and official packages or updates sometimes lag behind community versions. Licensing and subscription costs may also feel higher compared to other distributions. However, these are minor compared to the overall stability, support, and enterprise readiness SLES provides.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is helping us by providing a stable and secure platform for server virtualization, which improves resource utilization and reduces infrastructure costs. For SAP workloads, it delivers excellent performance and reliability, making it easier to run business-critical applications without downtime. In addition, its strong support for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) allows seamless integration with cloud environments, giving us flexibility and scalability as business needs grow. The overall benefit has been greater efficiency, lower operational risk, and a consistent enterprise-ready environment that we can depend on daily.

What do you dislike about the product?
There may be rapid changes compared to older versions, which will slightly affect business continuity.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main factor in choosing it is that it uses server resources sparingly and is fast.
