An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. SLES is reliable for corporate use

    Reviewed on Oct 09, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The updates are reliable and do not break existing workloads. Easy to deploy and manage. Security updates are very timely. Gold customer support is very knowledgeable and quick to get back to you.
What do you dislike about the product?
Yast2 is powerful but when something goes wrong i'd like to be able to know what it's doing behind the scenes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making updates available in a timely manner to keep our environment secure. Carefully reviewing updates so they do not impact the application layer.

Enterprise Operating System that is beginner friendly

What do you like best about the product?
As someone who has little experience with a Linux operating system, I find it easy to operate. The product has very good support website where you can find everything you need to get your server up and running as well as to troubleshoot issues that you may encounter with upgrading your system.
What do you dislike about the product?
To be frank, I can't think of anything to dislike about SUSE. They have very good after sales support and they really reward customers well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed an operating system that we can run our SAP HANA on and SUS Linux Enterprise Server seems to be the right fit with their Long Term Service Pack Support, we can keep using our application longer without planning an update or migration every time.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Linux from Europe

    Reviewed on Oct 08, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
We use SLES due to the long support cycles for the major versions, the well-tested software, and the reliability during upgrades. Besides Debian GNU/Linux, 70% of our servers run on SLES, and the servers can be easily administered via Ansible. The contact with customer support takes place in English, which is positive, but in my opinion, it should continue to be in German. So far, there has been no challenge that could not be solved. I would also like to particularly emphasize that SUSE is not rigid in its development, but with the new version 16, it cuts off old habits and removes tools like yast, apparmor, and salt from the standard distribution in favor of their better counterparts. The offer of the SUSE open build service for creating, testing, and publishing software packages is also worth mentioning. It can be used freely, and with it, missing packages can be created by oneself.
What do you dislike about the product?
The partial absence of, in my opinion, important packages like mydumper or hstr. However, it should be mentioned that there is the Open Build Service from SUSE.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A solid Linux like any other, but very solid and based in Europe.
