You pay based on monthly DRM license requests, billed as usage tiers. A base fee covers your first 20,000 requests each month. Beyond that, you buy units of 1,000 requests, priced across five volume bands: the next 80,000, next 200,000, next 700,000, next 2 million, and everything over 3 million. Each band charges a lower per-unit rate than the one before, so your effective cost drops as monthly volume rises. Charges blend across bands based on how many requests fall in each. There are no setup fees.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one license request for billing?
A request counts when an end user starts a session that asks for a video license. When key rotation is used, such as for live streaming, each rotation signaling a new license request counts separately. This lets you estimate volume from your streaming sessions and rotation settings.
When I cross a volume band, does the lower rate apply to all my requests?
No. Each band's rate applies only to requests that fall within that band. Your bill blends across bands based on how many requests land in each. The base fee always covers your first 20,000 requests. A new 1,000-request unit is triggered by the first request within it.
Are there any charges beyond the request tiers, like setup or integration support?
No setup fees apply. Documentation is included for self-setup. Consulting, testing, and integration support are separate from this offer and purchased directly from the vendor. Your monthly bill reflects only the base fee and any request units used above 20,000.

What do you like best about the product?
The service has proven stable and reliable, with annual costs that remain reasonable. The UI/UX is well-designed, offering useful insights that help us quickly diagnose issues when they arise.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have 24/7 Support (Gold SLA). While it covers the essentials, we feel there is room for improvement to better match the premium support experience we receive from other partners in our OTT ecosystem. That said, Castlabs support has been flexible in how requests are scoped, even though some investigations may still require an integration support package.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DRMtoday reliably meets our core content protection needs and provides a stable DRM foundation for our TV platform. That consistency lets us focus our attention on other parts of our OTT ecosystem, confident that DRM is one less thing we need to worry about.
