You build a storage array by combining hourly usage components. Engine dimensions (VPSA 200 through 3600) set the processing power; larger numbers scale performance. You add capacity separately using HDD drives (6, 10, 14, 18 TB) or SSD drives (4, 8 TB), each billed hourly. Optional hourly add-ons include Multi-Zone Upgrade, additional cache, Flash-Optimized Upgrade, ZCS Engine, extra virtual circuits, object storage proxies, and container services. Data protection and transfer bill by volume: backup protection per 10GB per day, and outbound transfer per GB for backup and remote mirror. You pay only for the components you provision.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do the engine dimensions (VPSA 200 through 3600) actually provide, and how do they differ from the drive dimensions?
The engine sets your array's processing power and controller capacity. Higher engine numbers deliver more performance. Drive dimensions add raw storage capacity separately, whether HDD or SSD. You must choose both: one engine for performance, plus drives for capacity. They bill independently and appear together on the same invoice.
Am I charged when my array is provisioned but idle, since billing is hourly?
Engine, drive, and add-on dimensions bill per hour while provisioned, regardless of activity. Data protection bills per 10GB per day of protected data. Transfer dimensions bill per GB only when data actually moves outbound. So idle transfer stops accruing, but provisioned engine and drive charges continue until you deprovision.
Which dimensions drive most of my bill, and how do the transfer charges fit in?
Your engine and provisioned drives form the ongoing hourly base cost. Add-ons like Multi-Zone Upgrade, cache, and virtual circuits add to that base. Data protection bills per 10GB per day of protected data. Outbound transfer for backup and remote mirror bills per GB moved. All charges add together on one invoice.

What is our primary use case?
We initially started by implementing the ZStorage solution, using different storage tiers to deliver storage resources according to the specific requirements and business needs of each workload.
Based on the successful results, we have already implemented the ZCompute/Cloud solution across our data centers in the state of São Paulo.
As a result, our infrastructure has become more robust and scalable.
How has it helped my organization?
Zadara has enabled us to deliver reliable, scalable, and cost-effective IaaS services. Its flexibility allows us to quickly adapt to our customers' needs while maintaining high service quality and competitive pricing.
What is most valuable?
The best features are scalability, flexibility, reliability, and the broad portfolio of services, including ZStorage, ZCompute, and Zadara Cloud. These solutions make it easier to meet different customer requirements while simplifying infrastructure management.
What needs improvement?
At this time, I do not identify any significant areas for improvement. The service meets our needs with excellent quality, stability, and outstanding support. My main recommendation is to maintain this high level of excellence while continuing to invest in the ongoing evolution of the platform.

What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Zadara is for an object storage migration and also for a database migration, focused on shared storage.
I created a shared object storage where I mapped this object storage inside AWS and also on the client's on-premises environment in order to share this data environment and carry out a data migration using Zadara from on-premises to the cloud.
What is most valuable?
Zadara works in an S3-compatible manner just like AWS, which greatly facilitated the connection using an access key and secret key and enabling multiplatform capabilities in terms of multicloud and various types of clouds. Establishing this connection within an S3 explorer such as S3 Browser allowed us to show the client where they could see the files and attach files from a Windows desktop, for example, and follow the process of uploading to the cloud in such a way that this becomes transparent directly to AWS S3 because we did this mapping inside Zadara.
Zadara offers a dynamic multicloud API capability that connects with the main clouds on the market at the moment, and I believe this is the main differentiator for a storage solution. Considering a block that can be mounted in any cloud at any time, the client's primary data in block format can be here in AWS and suddenly it can be moved to a Google API without having to migrate the data again. You can simply connect a new API, and that is a very significant differentiator for me.
Zadara had a positive impact on my organization during the migrations I took part in when I worked at GW Cloud. I worked on migrations of client use cases where Zadara brought a cost-benefit advantage for the client thanks to a more direct partnership with Zadara, and this made it much cheaper than doing a digital transformation where the data has to be transferred via very high data transfer on AWS or via large block storage to move anything compatible with that. Zadara offered better cost and better cost-benefit regarding cloud compatibility and also data traffic over the internet.
What needs improvement?
I would like to share something that I believe could improve Zadara's process, which is the issue of communication with databases. Today we have MongoDB as a cloud service, so integration with databases in Zadara would bring better performance in connection in SaaS models and in dynamic models that could bring a platform and a solution that could increase Zadara's usage in the market and in its business scope.
Zadara can improve in the database integration area as I mentioned. Zadara can have better dynamism such as MongoDB in SaaS and bring this better dynamism by connecting and offering it within the clouds as a possibility of block storage within that partner cloud, such as AWS EBS, Google's cloud storage, or something within Azure. Creating a stronger partnership where this block storage can become an API connectable across various clouds but native to those clouds would be beneficial.
I noticed simplicity in the security part during the time I used Zadara, so I believe Zadara's security needs to improve to provide more and deliver more security visibility to the end customer so that they feel more secure with data encryption and attack protection. A WAF on the API connection that goes through greater protection, something along those lines, could help guarantee that the data is protected by Zadara.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Zadara is stable. While I was using Zadara, I never had a problem. The security and control side, for what it offered, gave total stability.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Zadara's scalability in my experience is smooth and it was very practical because the physical part is not really up to us. The Zadara team handled changes to hard drive RAID and the storage that made up all the logical part, and it was very transparent to the end user.
How are customer service and support?
When I had experience with Zadara, the team in Brazil was in a very early stage, so support was not that efficient. However, we always had good initial support and when they could not solve something, we waited a bit and then got proper support.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We previously used S3, the cloud's own object storage, we used the clouds' EBS, and also within the data center, we used VMware. Zadara brought the possibility of doing these migrations from the on-premises environment to the cloud with ease of handling data.
How was the initial setup?
I did not acquire Zadara through the AWS Marketplace. It was a partnership that the company had with Zadara, GW Cloud, and then we delivered a Zadara inside a data center that connected with AWS and used a Direct Connect there to use Zadara in that sense.
What about the implementation team?
Currently, I work in an organization that does not use Zadara. I have worked in an organization that used Zadara, and there was a partnership that enabled hybrid cloud, both private and public.
What was our ROI?
I am on the technical side regarding return on investment, so I can only talk about the project I worked on. As I said earlier, the project had a calculated cost that was fifteen thousand dollars, and came to an amount of six to seven thousand dollars with Zadara.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Zadara, I evaluated other options such as AWS Storage Gateway, the options of shipping the physical hard drive itself, Hitachi, Datash storage functionalities, and Veeam backup and recovery tools.
What other advice do I have?
The reasons for my seven out of ten score include the points I mentioned: the security part, API integration, and the flexibility between clouds that still needs improvement.
My advice for others considering using Zadara is to research security thoroughly, about Zadara's evolution, the guarantees it provides, and what the cloud flexibility is to be used in the project, and mainly its role in the project. Whether it is migration, regular use, or building a cloud-native platform or something along those lines, you can apply Zadara in that build. I rate Zadara a seven on a scale of one to ten.

What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Zadara is to build and validate the GPU as a Service and the AI sovereignty that they're working on.
I have developed a tool that works based on GPU as a Service, and it also complies with the AI sovereignty concepts. The LLM is being run on GPU as a Service, and the interface is local with documents that are processed and chunked stored locally on the GPU server. This ensures that data does not leave the organization, which complies with AI sovereignty requirements.
This is the main use case that I am currently focused on without any other distractions.
What is most valuable?
The best features Zadara offers include 99% compute availability, and the redundancy mechanism that supports this is significant. Features like GPU as a Service can help bring down the operational cost of a physical GPU, and they are currently working on AI sovereignty and the AI factor.
Zadara has positively impacted my organization as it has added power and momentum to our vision, particularly when working with AI.
What needs improvement?
Zadara can be improved by making their interfaces more attractive. They currently look like simple PHP interfaces, but they need to customize and work on their interfaces and user interfaces significantly.

Zadara is stable.

Zadara's scalability is perfectly configured. There is no need to worry about scalability because the virtual machine automatically detects the load and then takes the load balance.

I previously worked with Google Cloud Platform and AWS platform solutions. I switched because Google Compute was not available when needed, so the virtual machine had to be reset every time. With AWS, the pricing was increasing significantly, so I needed an alternative solution. That is why I took a different approach.
How was the initial setup?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was straightforward. The process involves filling out fields or columns related to pricing and the application that will be used, and then they send a price quote. The process is simple and straightforward, but the pricing needs to be a little more public.
What was our ROI?
I can see the return on investment because we are saving around 15 to 18% of the operational cost when compared to AWS.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I have evaluated Zadara against every other public and private cloud option.
What other advice do I have?
Regarding Zadara's AI capabilities, I think it depends on the MSPs that they are performing collaborations with, and based on that, the MSPs are responsible for configuring the data governance or any kind of certifications that are placed on Zadara. Zadara normally has certain default governance things, and everything else depends on the local or region-specific governance rules.
Regarding Zadara's AI capabilities, I feel they are quick. I was trying two models on the same GPU that they were providing, and they were allocating the resources with me. This experience was good, and I would rate it around 9 to 9.5.
The first choice would be Zadara depending on the solution. However, I cannot really say Zadara would be the primary choice because it truly depends on the application or the objective that is being pursued.

What do you like best about the product?
What I appreciate most about Zadara zStorage is its remarkable flexibility and ability to adapt to nearly any storage requirement. It accommodates block, file, and object storage across a variety of protocols, allowing it to integrate smoothly into different environments without necessitating significant changes. Another major advantage is the OpEx, pay-as-you-go model, which eliminates the burden of large upfront investments and enables you to scale capacity only when it’s truly needed. I also value how straightforward it is to manage; the fully managed 24/7 service means I don’t have to deal with the typical hassles of storage maintenance. Whether deployed on-premises, in the cloud, or at the edge, it consistently provides reliable performance, making it an excellent choice for organizations seeking enterprise-grade storage without unnecessary complexity.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are not many significant drawbacks, but a few aspects are worth mentioning. Because zStorage is not as widely adopted as the leading cloud storage platforms, certain integrations and tools may feel somewhat limited. Additionally, you might need to invest some time in learning about the various tiers and options to ensure you choose the best setup for your needs. Overall, these downsides are relatively minor, but they are still important to consider.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
zStorage helps solve the problem of managing complex, fragmented storage environments. Instead of juggling separate systems for block, file, and object storage, zStorage brings everything together in one platform, which makes it much easier to manage and scale. This benefits me by reducing the amount of time and effort spent maintaining different systems.
Another problem it solves is unpredictable storage growth and costs. With its pay-as-you-go model, I don’t have to overbuy hardware “just in case.” I can scale capacity up or down whenever I need to, and that flexibility keeps costs under control while still giving me enterprise-class performance.
It also removes a lot of the operational burden. Because it’s fully managed 24/7, I don’t have to worry about handling upgrades, monitoring, or troubleshooting storage infrastructure. That lets me focus on applications and business needs instead of backend maintenance.
Overall, zStorage benefits me by simplifying storage management, keeping costs more predictable, and giving me reliable performance without the complexity of traditional storage systems.
