An open source Q&A platform inspired by StackOverflow. You can ask and answer questions, upvote and downvote posts, earn badges and reputation.

    Overview

Scoold is an open source Q&A platform written in Java. It supports most of the features found in Stack Overflow and adds a few extras like spaces, single sign-on and geotagging of questions. Scoold is lightweight - the backend is completely separated and handled by Para. It can be deployed on AWS or on premise.

Para is a general-purpose backend server for the cloud. It handles read and write operations for Scoold and keeps it easy to maintain. A self-hosted or a managed Para server is required for Scoold to work properly. For more information about Para, visit https://paraio.org

    Highlights

    • Full featured Q&A platform
    • Single sign-on with LDAP, SAML or social login
    • Lightweight and responsive frontend

    Container image

Containers are lightweight, portable execution environments that wrap server application software in a filesystem that includes everything it needs to run. Container applications run on supported container runtimes and orchestration services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). Both eliminate the need for you to install and operate your own container orchestration software by managing and scheduling containers on a scalable cluster of virtual machines.

    Usage instructions

Scoold requires a Para backend server. The Para backend can either be deployed as a container or a dedicated instance. There's also a managed Para backend service at https://paraio.com

    1. Please ensure that you have pulled the container image from the ECR using the container image details
    2. Launch the Docker images:

    docker run -p 8000:8000

    1. You'll get the service running
    2. Copy the public DNS of the instance into the browser, for example http://public-dns:8000
