Appgate SDP, the industry's most comprehensive universal ZTNA solution, is built on a direct-routed, software-defined perimeter model securing all user-to-resource and resource-to-resource connections across every enterprise use case.

    Overview

Appgate SDP, an industry-leading Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solution, puts your people first with simple, fast, secure connections to multi-cloud, on-prem, or legacy applications from anywhere. Appgate SDP is a direct-routed, cloud-native, API-enabled solution that delivers valuable security, efficiency, and user experience benefits while adhering to stringent Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) ZeroTrust guidelines. Each user has a one-to-one encrypted network segment to each resource explicitly granted to the user. Developers enjoy concurrent and automated access to multiple disparate environments without waiting for manual access approvals. Admins can easily ensure that users have access to necessary resources, regardless of physical location or virtual segmentation. Entitlements dynamically change based on user, device, and system context, such as AWS tags. The Appgate SDP paid version comes with a 15-day Free Trial. The Appgate SDP paid version includes a 25-user license and should be deployed as a single standalone SDP appliance. Hourly and Annual subscriptions to this product are available in the AWS Marketplace. Annual subscriptions provide a 10 percent savings compared to running the same product hourly for extended periods. Any customer usage above the number of annual subscriptions purchased is billed at the hourly rate. Please contact sdp.support@appgate.com  with any questions.

    Zero-Trust Made Easy

    Reviewed on Oct 09, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Manage complex user access assignments easily under a simple UI.
Appgate's support and customer success teams are fantastic, responsive, and very friendly.
Appgate can be used to reduce network complexity while still maintaining security.
What do you dislike about the product?
In addition to our own users, we sometimes setup access for our clients to get to very specific resources. License management can sometimes be challenging if you have a number of clients needing access for short periods of time because each connection consumes a license for 30-days.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gives VPN-like ability to access resources; however, SDP makes it far easier to control fine-grained access. Moving these connections to SDP gave us the ability to really deliver only necessary resources to specific users/groups.

What do you like best about the product?
Strong Zero-Trust / Least Privilege Model
Appgate SDP is built around the principle of granting only exactly what’s needed — no more, no less. Access is dynamically evaluated based on identity, device posture, context, and policy — which really minimizes exposure and lateral movement risk. Many users praise this as a superior security posture versus traditional VPNs.
What do you dislike about the product?
    Complex Deployment / Learning Curve

Many users mention that initial setup, configuration of policies, and tuning can be complex. It’s not always “plug-and-play.”
While Appgate supports hybrid architectures, some users note that changes (e.g. in the cloud or dynamic scaling) are more complex to reflect in policy / deployment
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Traditional VPNs typically follow a “connect first, verify later” model, which grants broad network access once inside. They often don’t support fine-grained controls, and expose a big attack surface. Appgate SDP replaces or augments this model.
Benefit : Because internal resources are cloaked and only visible to legitimate sessions, potential attackers have less surface to probe. Even if they penetrate one point, they can’t freely move.

What do you like best about the product?
Appgate SDP software can be used to connect multiple sites on a single vpn authentication, and users will be stress-free to connect multiple vpn to connect different sites.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not seeing anything to dislike but hopefully appgate GUI can be improved
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have different DCs in countries and it's really difficult to connect to each DC by using vpn on a single go, but AppGate solves that problem, and we only need to connect once using SSO, and it will connect to all the DC sites.

AppGate SDK is a powerful solution for modern remote access

    Reviewed on Apr 23, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
AppGate SDP offers a cutting-edge solution that prioritizes security, flexibility, and ease of integration.
As an organization operating with a hybrid workforce, the adaptive access controls make it easy to enforce dynamic security rules while ensuring seamless user experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our on-premises deployment is vulnerable to downtime if our datacenter experiences an outage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A major advantage of AppGate SDK for remote access is its identity-centric access model. Rather than relying on traditional VPN-based approaches, the SDK enforces granular policies based on user roles, device security posture, and location. This results in better security, reduced attack surfaces, and optimized performance.

Powerful and flexible Zero Trust Network implementation

    Reviewed on Apr 02, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Appgate is very powerful but still very flexible. You can deploy it in several different ways and cover any scenario. You can protect any type of device or Software, from servers and IOT devices to SaaS platforms.
You have total control of the solution reducing the need to trust 3rd parties when it comes to security or availability.
You can also integrate with several identity providers and log tools, giving you total control of the solution and also allowing you to integrate with solutions that you already use.
What do you dislike about the product?
With great power comes great responsibility. The fact that you don't need to trust a 3rd party makes you responsible to upgrade your appliances, you have to spend some time planning and executing the upgrades once in a while.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The very first problem it solves is replacing the old and unsecure VPN solutions. Nowadays PCI and cyber insurance scans will complain if you have an active VPN in place. Appgate allows you to keep your remote access capabilities without giving up on security.
The second problem is securing SaaS platforms like Microsoft 365. SaaS platforms are a constant target to still emails and personal information, with Appgate you can restrict the access making unauthorized access virtually impossible.
