This VM provides you full Ethereum node with PoS (Proof-of-Stake). It has out of box setup for Ethereum which includes Geth (Go based ethereum implementation), Lighthouse (Consensus Client) and synced ledger (updated on monthly basis). The Ethereum ledger is synced till the VM publishing date making it easier and faster for you to fully sync the ledger .
Having your own full Ethereum node provides you following benefits: 1. Gives you full control In the possible event of a hard fork where both blockchains remain active with economic activity on each, running a full node is the only way you can validate the rules of the new or old blockchain, according to your preference.
2. Preinstalled setups include:
- Geth (Ethereum Implementation in GO language)

- Pre synced ledger (till the date of VM publishing)

Note: Default instance type "t2.large" is very slow in sync and if you want fast sync, we recommend to use the "m5a.xlarge" instance type.
Note: This VM provides synced Ethereum ledger for development purposes. It is not recommended to use it as hot wallet or for commercial transactions.

Instead, you choose from many AWS EC2 instance types, and the hourly software rate is tied to the instance you select. Larger instances carry higher hourly rates. Every instance runs the same preconfigured Ethereum full node software, so your choice reflects the compute and memory capacity you need.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The hourly rate pays for the preconfigured Ethereum full node software on the EC2 instance type you pick. Each instance type sets the CPU, memory, storage, and any GPU capacity. Larger instance types provide more resources and carry higher rates. You add the underlying AWS infrastructure charge separately.
The software rate meters running instance-hours. A stopped instance does not accrue software charges. Stored data on the instance may still incur AWS storage fees while it is stopped. Charges resume only when you start the instance again.
The node includes an Ethereum execution client, a consensus client, a synced ledger, a wallet, remote desktop, a shell, and a code editor. The ledger syncs to the publishing date. The vendor states this is for development only, not a hot wallet or commercial transactions.
