    An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

    1. Initial User Setup 1.1) Connect to the EC2 instance using ssh 1.2) Assign a password to user qsecofr using the command "passwd". I.e: passwd qsecofr - Note: recommended password max length is 10 chars

    2. Connecting to Infinite i using a 5250 Client Note: If you already have a Telnet 5250 Client (except IBM Client Access) you can use it to connect to Infinite i (Skip to step 2.2) 2.1) Download and install the Telnet 5250 Client tn5250j located in the folder: /u01/clients/tn5250j-0.7.6-installer.jar. This program requires the Java Runtime (1.8 or newer). You can download the this tn5250j client using scp or a file transfer program like FileZilla or WinSCP. Example using scp on Windows:

    • Using an Administrator account, open PowerShell and run the follwing command:
    • scp -i <your_aws_pem_file>.pem ec2-user@<instance_ip_or_dns_name>:/u01/clients/tn5250j-0.7.6-installer.jar c:\User<user_name\Downloads
    • c:\User<user_name>\Downloads
    • cd c:\User<user_name>\Downloads
    • java -jar tn5250j-0.7.6-installer.jar
    • On Windows explorer, navigate to c:\User<user_name>\Downloads\tn5250j\bin and right click on tn5250j.bat then choose "Run as administrator"
    • Follow the installation instructions. 2.2) After the tn5250j is installed, start the client and create a new connection. On the TCP/IP tab, HOST IP/DNS enter the IP or DNS name of your EC2 instance. On Port enter 5250 2.3) Connect to Infinite i and sign on with user QSECOFR and the password you assigned in step #1.2
