You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance type you run. This listing packages Docker on Ubuntu 26 as a ready-to-deploy image, with vendor support included. Pricing is not tiered. Instead, each dimension maps to one AWS instance type, spanning general-purpose (t, m), compute-optimized (c), memory-optimized (r, x, z), storage-optimized (d, i), and accelerated (g, p, inf, trn) families. Software cost scales with the instance size and family you choose. Larger instances carry a higher hourly rate. You select the instance that matches your workload, and billing follows actual hours used.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get when I select an instance dimension like m5.large or c5.xlarge?
Each dimension maps to one AWS EC2 instance type running the Docker on Ubuntu 26 image. The instance name defines the CPU, memory, and storage profile you receive. You pay the hourly software rate for that type on top of the underlying AWS infrastructure charge.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges accrue per hour while the instance runs. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software rate. Note that AWS may still bill separately for attached storage on a stopped instance, but the listing meters running hours only.
Does my hourly cost change if I switch to a different instance type?
Yes. The rate is tied to the specific instance type you launch. Moving to a different type or family changes your hourly software charge automatically. The change takes effect when you run the new instance, so you pay the rate matching whatever type is active.
