What do you like best about the product?

CTERA provides a unified, secure, and highly efficient platform for managing distributed file services across multiple sites. The combination of on-prem edge filers with cloud-based global file system synchronization is extremely helpful for our environment. It simplifies branch storage, reduces reliance on legacy file servers, and offers strong performance, granular permissions, snapshots, and ransomware protection. Centralized management and reliable support make administration smooth and predictable, which is a major upside.

What do you dislike about the product?

Some areas could be more intuitive, especially when handling large-scale upgrades, filer synchronization delays, and occasional UI responsiveness issues. Troubleshooting certain edge cases can require deeper engagement with support due to limited in-depth documentation for complex scenarios. Additionally, upgrade scheduling and dependency coordination can sometimes feel cumbersome. Improving real-time visibility and streamlining firmware updates would greatly enhance the overall experience.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

CTERA is helping us solve several major challenges around secure file storage, large-scale data management, and remote access. In our environment, we manage extremely large data sets such as body-worn camera videos, digital evidence, case files, and high-volume media content. These workloads require fast local access, reliable synchronization, and strong governance.

CTERA solves this by providing a hybrid cloud global file system that keeps frequently accessed data available locally on edge filers while automatically syncing to the cloud for continuity and protection. This eliminates the performance issues we previously faced with traditional file servers and improves user productivity across multiple buildings and locations.

central management allows for us to work as a global team from a single pane of glass. It also allows us the flexibility to support a variety of services from FTP,NFS... to SAMBA.

Nothing specific outside of what we normally encounter with other products

They have been very engaged with our needs for monitoring, auditing, and security our data across multiple sites. They have also committed to working with integrating third party security to ensure our model is optimal.

CTERA is being deployed across multiple sites to facilitate faster and more secure data transmission. Its edge filers have significantly simplified data management across various regions. CTERA can be deployed on any cloud platform or on-premise servers. We've found that CTERA on Azure or AWS offers exceptional services.

This highly scalable, enterprise-class software is ideal for mission-critical applications where data synchronization is vital. Additionally, it offers best-in-class protection against sophisticated cyber threats like ransomware.

What do you like best about the product?

Technical support and ease of use. Product is very solid and the integration with Microsoft Azure is easy

What do you dislike about the product?

Need to provide tools inherit to the software that allow admins to see what is going on with the data.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

File share access to remote sites and backup

What do you like best about the product?

I can easily and readily access files through multiple devices and locations. I can have complete and end-to-end backups of important files and recover the same. I can sync the data with IBM cloud for highly integrated operation.

What do you dislike about the product?

Data compression is not up to the expected level. Faced some challenges while automatically scheduling the backup.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Helps in reducing IT-related expenses. I use it to easily store and create a backup of data that can be remotely accessed. Can manage the files centrally for compliance-related purposes.
