This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for a secure, ready-to-use ELK Stack 9.5 with Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana. Search, analyse and visualise all your logs on your own server, with unique passwords for every instance.
The ELK Stack combines Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana for collecting, searching and visualising logs and other machine data. Teams use it to troubleshoot applications, monitor servers, review security events and build dashboards from any data with a timestamp. This image gives operations and development teams a working ELK server in minutes, with all three parts already connected.
What is included: Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana 9.5.3 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Nginx in front of Kibana on port 80 with a sign-in prompt, and Webmin 2.660 for server administration. Kibana's address follows the instance's public IP automatically. Security is on by default: no password ships in the image. On first boot every instance sets its own Kibana and Webmin passwords and new Kibana encryption keys, Elasticsearch listens only on the server itself, and SSH accepts key-based login only.
What you get on top of the free software: a pre-built and tested image that is ready in minutes, a unique security setup for every server, simple scripts for changing passwords, regular image updates, and help by email whenever you need it. Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana are licensed by Elastic under their published licences, including AGPL-3.0 for Elasticsearch and Kibana. Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana are trademarks of Elasticsearch B.V. This image is an independent build by ProvenCloud.
Highlights
Ready in minutes: launch the instance, open its public IP and sign in to Kibana. Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Nginx and Webmin are already installed and working together.
Secure by default: no shared or default passwords. Every instance sets its own Kibana and Webmin passwords on first boot and new Kibana encryption keys are generated, and SSH accepts key-based login only.
Turn logs into answers: ship logs with Logstash, search them in Elasticsearch, and build Kibana dashboards for errors, traffic and performance.

Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for the software running on an EC2 instance. Pricing follows your chosen instance type, so there are no tiers or plans to pick. Each dimension maps to one AWS instance family and size. These cover compute-optimized (c-series), storage (d, i, h), graphics and accelerated (g, p, f, inf, trn, vt), general purpose (m, t), and memory-optimized (r, x, z) families. Larger sizes within a family carry more vCPU and memory, so the hourly rate scales with the instance you run. Your AWS compute and storage charges are separate.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What exactly am I paying for in the hourly software rate, and what does the instance size give me?
The hourly rate covers the pre-built ELK Stack image with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana running on the EC2 instance you choose. Each dimension is one AWS instance type and size. Larger sizes add vCPU and memory. The image is sized for 4 GB and up, with a 2 GB Elasticsearch heap.
Am I charged the software rate when the instance is stopped?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the per-hour software charge. You may still pay AWS for attached storage, such as the gp3 root volume, while the instance is stopped. Your AWS compute and storage charges are separate from this software rate.
Do I need to buy an Elastic licence key on top of the hourly charge?
No. The image ships under Elastic License 2.0 (free tier) and needs no licence key. The hourly charge is for running the pre-built software image. You pay AWS separately for the compute and storage your instance uses. There is no agent or control plane to adopt.

Vendor refund policy
Software charges are billed hourly, only while your instance runs. You can stop charges at any time by terminating the instance or cancelling your subscription. Charges already incurred are not refundable.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Additional details
Usage instructions
Once the instance is running, enter http://<instance-public-ip> into your browser. Your browser asks for a sign-in: enter KibanaAdmin as the username and your instance ID as the password to open Kibana. Webmin is on port 8000, so open http://<instance-public-ip>:8000 and sign in with admin as the username and your instance ID as the password. You can also connect over SSH with the username ubuntu and your Amazon key pair.
Required inbound ports: 22 (SSH), 80 (Kibana) and 8000 (Webmin). If other machines send logs to Logstash, open the input port you configure only to those machines. For security, allow ports 22 and 8000 only from your own IP address.
Your instance ID is shown in the EC2 console, for example i-0123456789abcdef0. Every instance sets its own passwords on first boot, so no two instances share a password. Allow about five minutes after launch for the first-boot setup to finish before you sign in.
Change your passwords after the first sign-in: connect over SSH and run sudo bash /home/ubuntu/iscripts/pass_kibana.sh for Kibana or pass_webmin.sh for Webmin. elk_status.sh in the same folder shows versions and health.
The image serves plain HTTP so it works on a bare IP address. Before using it in production, add your own domain and an SSL certificate, or place it behind a load balancer with HTTPS.
