Hermes Agent by Nous Research is an open-source AI assistant that gives you a personal agent with tool use, browser automation, and messaging integrations.
This AMI is fully pre-configured on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Launch, SSH in, and start using your AI agent in under 2 minutes.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Browser workstation and loopback-only VNC/noVNC with SSH tunnel preserved. Fresh instance, sandboxed headed Chrome and real-reboot session persistence verified. Bounded security scan has no critical matches; residual high OS/vendor/package-manager findings remain. This is not a vulnerability-free certification or completed AWS security review. Provider-backed AI requires customer credentials and was not tested.

Usage instructions
- SSH into the instance: ssh ubuntu@<instance-ip>
- Run hermes setup and choose your provider/model.
- Start chatting with hermes. Optional messaging: hermes gateway setup, then systemctl --user start hermes after configuration.
Browser access now uses an SSH tunnel (no public VNC/noVNC listener): ssh -L 6080:127.0.0.1:6080 ubuntu@<instance-ip> Open http://localhost:6080/vnc.html locally. Keep SSH restricted to your IP. Docker, Chrome, Playwright, Tailscale and Caddy remain installed. Configure Caddy before enabling it. For sandboxed Playwright automation, use the installed Chrome channel (channel="chrome", chromiumSandbox=true) on DISPLAY=:99.
