CtrlB - Observability and Log Analytics on Your Object Storage

     Info
CtrlB is a monitoring and log analytics platform for engineering and security teams. Search years worth of logs, metrics, and traces at petabyte scale in under a second, stored in your own cloud. Your engineers investigate through the UI or your AI agents query the same data over MCP.

    Overview

    Open image

Engineering and security teams keep the telemetry they can afford to keep, not the telemetry they need. Data gets sampled, dropped, or tiered into archives that are too slow to query during an incident. When something breaks or an investigation starts, the answer is often in data that is technically retained but practically unreachable.

CtrlB is a unified data lake for logs, metrics, traces, events, and security telemetry. It stores data as open Parquet in your own cloud account and makes all of it searchable, not just the recent window. Engineers investigate through the built-in UI. AI agents query the same data directly over MCP, REST, or SQL, with no per-query metering.

Use CtrlB for application/infrastructure observability, security log investigation, and as the query engine behind your own investigation agents.

    Key features:

    • Data on your object storage, no proprietary format, no vendor lock-in
    • Schema-less ingestion via OpenTelemetry, Fluent Bit, Vector, or any HTTP source
    • Built-in UI for search, dashboards, and alerts
    • CtrlB MCP Server, AI agents can query telemetry directly as a source of truth

    Deployment and controls

    • SaaS, BYOC (runs in your VPC), or fully on-premises
    • Runs on AWS, GCP, Azure, and Cloudflare

CtrlB uses simple, transparent, usage-based pricing. You pay for what you ingest, with no per-user seats, no per-host agents, no per-query metering, and no charge for the AI agents reading your data. Storage stays in your own object storage at your cloud provider's rates. Start on the free tier with 150 GB/month of ingestion and 14-day retention, no credit card.

    Highlights

    • OpenTelemetry-native platform supporting logs, traces, metrics, alerts, and AI insights
    • S3 native observability architecture with object storage integrations
    • Sub-second search performance across petabyte-scale telemetry datasets

    Dimensions summary

You pay based on usage, billed per gigabyte of telemetry you send in. Three independent dimensions cover Logs, Metrics, and Traces. Each is priced separately by the volume ingested, and each includes 30 days of retention. Your cost scales with the amount of data you ingest in each category. Because the dimensions are independent, you pay only for the telemetry types you actually use. There are no fixed tiers or instance sizes — the more you ingest, the more you pay across each dimension.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

You are billed per gigabyte of raw telemetry you send in, measured at ingestion. This applies separately to Logs, Metrics, and Traces. Cost tracks the bytes ingested, not the number of series, fields, or tags. Each gigabyte ingested includes 30 days of retention.
No. Billing is based only on the volume of data you ingest across Logs, Metrics, and Traces. Reads and queries run against your ingested data are not metered as separate pricing dimensions. The three ingestion dimensions are the only charges shown on the pricing table.
The three dimensions bill independently and add together on one invoice. The one that dominates depends on which telemetry type you ingest most by volume. High-volume log pipelines push Logs cost up. Metrics-heavy or trace-heavy workloads shift the largest share to those dimensions instead.
