You pay by the hour for the LoadMaster load balancer running on the AWS instance type you choose. Pricing is not a set of feature tiers. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance size across the c5, c5d, m5, m5d, r5, and r5d families. These families differ by compute, memory, and local storage focus. Costs scale with instance size, from large up to 24xlarge. Larger instances handle more processing and traffic. You select the instance that fits your throughput and resource needs, and billing accrues only while the instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get when I choose a specific instance type like c5.large or r5.xlarge?
Each dimension launches the LoadMaster software on that exact EC2 instance size. The c5 and c5d families focus on compute, m5 and m5d balance compute and memory, and r5 and r5d favor memory. The d suffix adds local NVMe storage. You pick based on your traffic and resource needs.
Am I charged when the LoadMaster instance is stopped or powered off?
Software charges accrue only while the instance runs, since billing is hourly per running instance. A fully stopped instance stops the software meter. Underlying AWS storage or other resource fees may still apply separately for stopped instances, but the software licence meters running time only.
Does moving to a bigger instance change which load balancing features I get?
No. Every LoadMaster instance includes the same core capabilities, such as L4/7 load balancing, high availability, TLS/SSL offload, content-based routing, caching, and IPv6 support. Instance size affects processing capacity and traffic throughput, not the feature set. You scale performance by selecting a larger instance, not by unlocking features.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
