You pay by the hour for this Windows Server 2022 print server, billed only while your instance runs. The many options here are AWS EC2 instance types, not feature tiers. Each name reflects a hardware profile that differs in CPU, memory, storage, and networking capacity. Smaller types suit light printing workloads, while larger types handle heavier demand or more concurrent users. The software runs the same across all of them; you choose the instance size that matches your performance and budget needs. Your hourly rate scales with the instance size you select, plus standard AWS infrastructure charges.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit map to for this print server?
Each unit is one running AWS EC2 instance of the type you select. You pay for every hour the instance runs, regardless of how many printers or users you configure. The instance type sets the CPU, memory, storage, and networking behind your Windows Server 2022 print server.
Am I charged when my print server instance is stopped?
Software charges meter running instance-hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue hourly software charges. Stopped instances may still incur standard AWS storage fees for attached volumes. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
How does my bill change if I move to a larger instance type?
The software runs the same across all instance types. Your hourly rate changes to match the type you run at any given hour. Switching sizes is manual: you stop the instance and relaunch on the new type. Standard AWS infrastructure charges also adjust with the size.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
