You pay by the hour for the software running on Windows Server 2019 as a pre-configured print server. Pricing follows your chosen Amazon EC2 instance size, so each dimension maps to a specific instance type. Options span small burstable instances like t2.nano and t3.medium up to memory-, compute-, storage-, and GPU-optimized families such as r5, c5, i3, x1e, and p3. Larger instances carry more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware, so the hourly rate scales with the capacity you select. You add EC2 infrastructure costs separately, and you can change instance size to match your workload.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get for the hourly rate on a given instance type?
You get a Windows Server 2019 virtual machine pre-configured as a print server. It runs on the Amazon EC2 instance size you pick, and that instance's CPU, memory, and storage determine your capacity. Each dimension bills per running hour for the software on that instance type.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped, for example during off-hours?
The software meters running time by the hour. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. Underlying AWS storage fees for the volume may still apply while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
How does the bill change if I move to a bigger instance size?
Cost tracks the instance type you select. Moving from a small burstable size like t2.nano to a compute-, memory-, storage-, or GPU-optimized family raises the hourly software rate. You add EC2 infrastructure charges separately, and you can resize to match your print workload.
