Deploy your containerized workloads in a threat-resistant environment by leveraging Chainguard container hosts, backed by our CVE remediation SLA, helping you eliminate developer toil and enabling your team to focus on innovation instead of patching vulnerabilities. These minimal, low-to-zero-CVE container hosts are built entirely from source in Chainguard's SLSA Level 2 infrastructure. These container hosts include only those components required to run as a container host, along with an optimized kernel.
Run your containerized workloads on a foundation that is secure by default, eliminating the endless cycle of CVE patching and remediation that drains your team's time and resources.
Why Chainguard Container Hosts?
Secure base from day one: Minimal VM images built entirely from source in our SLSA Level 2 environment include only essential components, eliminating bloat and vulnerabilities
Stop chasing CVEs: No more valuable engineering time spent on emergency patching, security advisories, or remediation tickets, allowing your teams to focus on building features, not fixing CVEs.

Try this product free for 30 days according to the free trial terms set by the vendor. Usage-based pricing is in effect for usage beyond the free trial terms. Your free trial gets automatically converted to a paid subscription when the trial ends, but may be canceled any time before that.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for this container host, billed per running instance. Pricing scales with the AWS Graviton (arm64) EC2 instance type you choose. Options span general-purpose (m-series, t4g), compute-optimized (c-series), memory-optimized (r-series, x8g), and storage-optimized (i-series, im4gn) families across several generations. Within each family, hourly rates rise as instance size grows, from nano and medium up to 24xlarge. You select the instance that matches your compute, memory, and storage needs. There is no upfront commitment; you are charged only for the hours each instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What am I actually running when I pay for this container host by the hour?
You run a minimal Linux virtual machine image built to host containers on AWS Graviton (arm64) instances. It includes only essential components like the Linux kernel, systemd, and glibc. It works with standard container runtimes and orchestration systems, reducing the packages that must be patched.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or powered off?
The software charge meters running instance-hours. A fully stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue software charges. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the container host software bills only for the hours each instance actually runs.
Does choosing a larger instance size change how the software is billed?
The software is billed per instance-hour, and the hourly rate is tied to the specific arm64 instance type you launch. Larger sizes within a family carry higher hourly rates. You are billed for one running instance at a time; running several instances adds each one's hourly charge.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
